We've got program out in San Diego county where volunteers can go in and tape inmate moms as they read donated children's books to their kids. The videotape and the book is given to the kids so they can "read along with mom" at home.

At first, many of the moms are a bit shy about reading because some of them don't have good reading skills themselves, but after awhile, they forget the tape is rolling and it's a good experience for both the moms and the kids.

There's lots of good news out there. We just have to look for it...

I am so glad that their is accurate coverage on the flooding in the Midwest. I live in Kansas so my thoughts lead me to the potential tornadoes that could rip through my small town of Hutchinson. I personally have been through a dozen tornadoes throughout my life and pray that none come to my small town or any other. Great reporting!

I wonder if the police will exhume the bodies (assuming they were buried and not cremated) and do autopsies on them? The remains can be tested for other possible causes of death, such as poisoning.

If this lady is found guilty of killing her husbands, I hope she (at the minimum) stays in prison the rest of her life. A woman that is cold and cunning enough to kill 5 husbands is a waste of oxygen and should not be allowed to roam among the general population.

It has been a tough week. It is hard to watch the pictures of the flooding in the mid west and see so many people lose everything they own.

I think it's great what is done with those videos for inmates. It's got to be very hard on the children who have parents or other relatives locked up for some time. Hope your Monday is looking up- don't be depressed. While there's much sadness in life there's also plenty to look forward to and to live for and be happy about.:)

Two words on all the recent storms: global warming. It seems that Mother Nature keeps sending us a wake-up call. We should pay attention or we’ll be in for more…

On the White House e-mails…the current administration disgusts me so much; I don’t even want to comment on it.

The woman who may have killed all her 5 husbands…nothing surprises me anymore if this turns out to be true…and if it is true, you’d think she would’ve been caught the first time.

My hats off to Carolyn LeCroy for channeling her skills to do something good. I hate to say it and I know she didn’t deserve it, but maybe there was a reason that she went to prison? To fulfill this unmet need? Sometimes, no matter how strange it sounds, things do happen for a reason.

Thank goodness for the last story about Carolyn. I was beginning to feel pretty badly there until I read her article. What a way to make lemons from lemonade. Good for her! Thankfully people like her still exist in this troubled world. We should all take a lesson.

That lady who lose all of those husbands is creepy as all get out. There has to be something there. That is way too much of a coincidence if you ask me. But then, I am no detective. Hmmm. Intersting to see what comes of this. Keep us posted.

All of the tragic weather we have had in this country really makes you think. Then I hear people saying that global warming is a scam and all I can think is "looked outside lately"? People crack me up.
