Finally someone referring to these male members of this church as pedophiles. Call em like ya see em.

The magic running mate is Rice. And yeah, he could beat the pants off either democrat with her as VP.

Goodness, Knowing her name is scary. I hope she is protected??

Megan O. Toronto, ON, Canada   April 9th, 2008 10:00 pm ET

Good evening bloggers!!! Happy hump day!

Thank goodness Idol Gives Back is on time shifting so I could watch it and 360

Carrie   April 9th, 2008 10:00 pm ET

Campbell, you’re great, but I miss Anderson! :(

Maureen T   April 9th, 2008 10:01 pm ET

Hello Campbell, Erica and live bloggers!

carmen   April 9th, 2008 10:01 pm ET

Good Evening all… sounds like a great show. Is Anderson okay?

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:01 pm ET

According to some of the interviewees last night, there were more compounds in various other states. I wonder how we will handle it if there are more such children.

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

I clear my schedule from 8-9 MST to watch 360. What else is there?

Maureen T   April 9th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

Where’s Andy?

Megan O. Toronto, ON, Canada   April 9th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

I am sure Anderson is ok and is probably taking a vacation….this being an election year, you take the time off when you can get it

Cindy   April 9th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

Campbell,
Glad to see you subbing again. You have done an awesome job! Anderson better watch out or you’ll take his job! LOL

Cynthia, Ga.

Tammy   April 9th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

Hi all. I hate to say this, but with these crazies is this poor girl who tipped the authorities off even alive still?

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

So the spiritual marriage makes it possible to keep from bigamy and can give way for welfare and other gov. benefits for the mothers.

Have any of the men been arrested?

Liv, ct   April 9th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

the polygamists are not respectable, they do abuse women - and girls. This is the most terrible crime. Children should not suffer at all, what those girls had to go through is unbelievable - and all that for some perversity of the sick minded man.
My question is : is it too much of freedom here that this is even possible? Maybe we need a little bit more rules and observations?
I am not sure how to handle people like this. Us is a mixture of cultures, races, people from all the world (-and maybe the alliens = just joking…).
How can this be prevented?

Chuck in Alabama   April 9th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

This is just sickening.

Genevieve M, TX   April 9th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Is it legal to say the name of the girl who called the authorities? I mean, she is 16 y/o, a minor.

Megan Dresslar   April 9th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Hi Campbell, Erica and Bloggers!
Anderson is taking week night off ……..

Sebbe - Mystic, Connecticut   April 9th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

How do they not know how many men are at the compound. Give me a break. Round them up and count them.

Michael, NC   April 9th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Wow…a whopper of a piece here. I can’t believe how out of hand this is. It just gets deeper and deeper.
Good to see Campbell back in the big seat once again, loving every minute of it here at home!

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Anderson must be on vacation. We are in good hands. Although he does bring a certain sparkle to the show.

These kids are young enough to break through this abuse if they are handled with care.

Tammy   April 9th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

Listening to this it sounds like manipulation at its worst.

Tannis   April 9th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

Erica,

Will there be an opportunity for you to fill in for Anderson when he’s away? ….EricaHill360 has a good ring to it……Would love to see you anchor the show!

Sebbe - Mystic, Connecticut   April 9th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

Hopefully the media is going to use its power for good and focus on these other compounds spread across the mid-west and British Columbia. PLEASE

Michael, NC   April 9th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

Liv-
I agree, we need to find ways to figure these things out before they happen, but I don’t know if it is possible, I mean, this is HUGE and has been right under our noses, its so sickening.

Renee   April 9th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

Flora, thanks for telling your story. 5 years to unscramble this horror! How do you deprogram from a cult?

debbie new york   April 9th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

hi Campbel & Erica Good to see you again . You’re doing a very good job …keep it up, However I miss anderson. I will watch you on 360 for the first 1 hour. I am off

Chuck in Alabama   April 9th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

When I lived in Utah, there were approximately 400 teen boys that had been kicked out of one of these communities because they were competing for the young women that the older men wanted. They were called the “Lost Boys.”

Sebbe - Mystic, Connecticut   April 9th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

I know we have seen it before years ago especially during Warren Jeffs trial. But, AC 360 please also explore and show us in depth the towns in Arizona / Utah.

Victoria   April 9th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

Hi Bloggers & AC 360 crew!
Looking forward to a great show as always!

Megan Dresslar   April 9th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

Oh no! that is so bad news!!!!! he supposed to stay jail right now.

Renee   April 9th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

Keep Sweet and have sex with little girls! This is so sad and sick! Flora remember God gave you a voice to help the woman and children.

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

They must be so afraid. I hope they are getting the utmost care.

Obey and submit or I guess they will die.

Yes, sir, just the beginning of the end.

Maureen T   April 9th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

It is 2008 isn’t it? Why do these individuals feel they have to control the women and children? I just can’t wrap my mind around this!

Tammy   April 9th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

So when do the other states raid these compounds in order to stop this?

Michael, NC   April 9th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Flora is right, we don’t know where other divisions are, in states all over the nation…how are we going to stop that? I mean, how can anyone guard against this? There are way too many questions that are completely unanswerable, but it starts with this one find, and hopefully we can spark something.

Megan O. Toronto, ON, Canada   April 9th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Keep Sweet = Obey and Submit….sounds like the 1500’s

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

I so hope CNN goes to other compounds right away, they may disperse in a way that makes further investigation difficult.

Megan O. Toronto, ON, Canada   April 9th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

I absolutely agree with Tannis 100%……Erica needs a turn sitting in as sub anchor

Renee   April 9th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

Larry King did an entire show on this issue. One of the guests said she loved being in this type of relationship. She had 8 children of her own and like 30 plus among her and the 4 other spiritual wives!

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Chuck…

What happened to the lost boys?

Terri   April 9th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Will discovering the extent of the abuse in Texas, allow the FBI to go into other FDLS compounds now? It seems that law enforcement would have probable cause…

Sebbe - Mystic, Connecticut   April 9th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

This is obsence in the United States that this is allowed to happen right out in the open. It is bad enough these private families that do this like the woman that was on Larry King tonight. But, these “GROUPS”, the Federal Government should not leave this up to the states. I am pleasantly surprised and happy that Texas had the strength to go in free those women and children. But it doesn’t look like anything is going to change in Utah/Arizona. And wherever these others compounds are.

Moses from Tallahassee   April 9th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

these polygamists are the worst of the worst!

Renee   April 9th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Hi Megan at least in the 1500’s the women worked the farm, cooked and headed into town for the day and visited with friends. It was all about the family and the animals. This group is all about control and brainwashing. Sad, sad, sad.

jody Morrison   April 9th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

For me the issue isn’t polygamy. Its violence against women and cildren by men who have a sense of entitlement, who believe that they have the right to abuse their “property.” We all need to take a good hard look not only at polygamy but at any relationship which fosters such violence.

Lorie Ann, Buellton, California   April 9th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

I must agree with Tammy. The authorities can’t just stop at this raid. They will all flee underground. They will fight tooth and nail to hang on to their sect.

Melinda   April 9th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Sick, sick men! They should be locked up. I have no sympathy for people that hurt kids.

Sebbe - Mystic, Connecticut   April 9th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Someone please explain to me all of these people are practicing this out in the open and I as a proud gay man am not allowed to get married.

Please vote democratic in November.

Good evening everyone, and thanks for your support! You guys are the best… stay tuned :-)

On a more serious note, I think Maureen you sum it up well in that this situation in Texas is very tough to wrap your mind around

Maureen T   April 9th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

These women interviewed by Gary Tuchman appear brainwashed to me. It doesn’t appear they can speak for themselves!

Megan Dresslar   April 9th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Erica,
I agree with Tannis and Megan O. Will you subbing for Anderson anytime?

Chuck in Alabama   April 9th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Slater,

Many were welcomed into homes of volunteers, but, there are many more being “excommunicated” from the FLDS constantly.

Tammy   April 9th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

It’s amazing how the brainwashing allows these people to believe what they do is all right. Scary.

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Yay!! Colorado is next! I would rather live in a clean state.

Why would a pedophile be angry? Unless he is arrested.

Why did we not listen to these women earlier? imagine that many siblings? how can they afford this?

Okay, that guy is a pedophile. All these guys should be arrested. In the real world that would happen.

Faye   April 9th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Women we should be out raged at this. Where is the protection for our children in this country. Raid all of the compounds and arrested the leaders and every man that married a minor or touched a minor.

THIS IS WHAT WE SHOULD BE ANGRY ABOUT AND CALLING FOR JUSTICE

Sebbe - Mystic, Connecticut   April 9th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Why is Texas not issuing a fugitive from justice warrant for this man if they know where he is?

Anna   April 9th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

I don’t know about anyone else.. but just even watching the stories about polygamy makes me sick to my stomach!

jackie Mills   April 9th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

After the raid on the compound in Texas, because underage girls have been given in “marriage” without freedom to consent, I am wondering if the state, or any other state would prosecute an underage Muslim marriage. According to the book “While Europe Slept” some European countries (I think Sweeden is one) have lowered the marriage age for Muslim imported brides but not for other citizens, citing cultural differences. It discusses the fact that some Muslim groups, often from Africa, will arrange a marriage where the girl, underage, has never seen her husband. Hopefully this practice is not acceptable in the U.S.A. and is being prosecuted.

JP   April 9th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

I am LDS and it outrages me to hear about all of these allegations that are most likely true about the FLDS, I am just worried that this will increase persecution of real LDS members but aside from that I’m all for the raids and if there were a volunteer program where I could participate in the raids, I’m down.

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

I think our minds will fall short of wrapping all the way around this when they uncover other locations.

Chuck, that is too bad. i heard that this happened earlier today. What a travesty.

We love the show Erica, thanks for being here with us.

evelyn summers   April 9th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

how can they let the men leave the compond and not let them back in when they are all rapist

Megan O. Toronto, ON, Canada   April 9th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Love the blue theme Erica and Campbell.

Megan Dresslar   April 9th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Yeah, Anna
I agree with you……….

Megan O. Toronto, ON, Canada   April 9th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

those babies are adorable :)

Genevieve M, TX   April 9th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

When you put their faces next to each other, Erica and Campbell almost look like twins.

Alexander   April 9th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Hi everyone. How is everyone doing tonight on the blog? How are you, Erica, Campbell, and eveyrone? Interesting show tonight, I see. :)

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

It’s brainwashing history. Part of the downfall of separation of church and state. As we all know well, deviant people come up with brilliant ways to get around the system and take advantage of it.

Teresa, Kent, Ohio   April 9th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Being raised a catholic/ christian, I sometimes wonder if I would even believe in “God” if I wasn’t taught it.

With these children and women raised into polygamy, it is probably as if their world is being taken from them. Everything that they believed to be truth is not to the rest of the world.

Polygamy may be “legal” as per religion. Even in the general population, I don’t think we have strict enough laws for sexual abusers.

On another note: I was glad not to see all the politics. Damn shame it took a RELIGIOUS PEDOPHILE based church to take the headlines. But, sex and politics go hand and hand dont they?

Rose from Southern Calif   April 9th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

How many compound are there all together? Remember their are other religions with the same rules like this of Warren Jeffs.

Teresa, in Dallas   April 9th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

how do these people get the money to build this huge compound and to support all these people?

Tammy   April 9th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

You know, no offense to AC, but this all female team really is good.

Megan Dresslar   April 9th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

I love cutie babies!!!!!

Cody   April 9th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

I’m just glad that this is all going down. I’ve been on the ranch and I own a ranch that shares a fence with the FLDS property. I’ve rarely seen the kids out on the property at all and I’ve seen some certain things that brought you chills. I have numerously brought my concerns to the authorities and they listened to every complaint but weren’t legally able to anything. I just have to tip my hat to the state of Texas and hope and pray for these young women. I’ve always been proud to be from the state of Texas and realize now just how lucky I am. I’ve watched the temple, the feed grains, the fields and every other building being built and I’m just so grateful that it is hopefully over.

Carla Ontario Canada   April 9th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

I think it is a very sad situation and hopeful the women and kids will get the help they need. How did the men provide for their families, its hard enough for the average family (2ad/2kids). Also did they get a child benefit from the govt. (It used to be called baby bonus here in Canada). It also makes my wonder if these men were into producing child prono for sale on the internet.

Bahsan   April 9th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

This polygamy deal is some what new to me, and i was wondering how long ago does it go back? perhabs how long has it been practiced in the united is states. However, i understand it is a relegion they beleive that they follow, and why did it took this long to be done something about….it’s amazing, how these people live…. i’m just as shocked as some of you might have been…

William Wilson   April 9th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

I am a 24 year old student in the Illinois area, who recently went college back to school to further future dreams The Texas raid is very disturbing and though American government allows freedom of religion among many all people, the line has to be drawn somewhere. All of these types of compounds should be raid under the federal law and future stories, like this one, should not reoccur. Being a Morman is one thing, but cults like the FFDA could be seen as acting on the same level as terrorist. Just to add, the report with Flora and Steeve tonight was very moving and covered an angle of the the whole situation in a very positive and “thinking into the future” type broadcast. This is my first post and I believe Anderson 360 ranks right up their with Mad Money.

Karen   April 9th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

I am praying for the girls who have been abused unbeknownst to many of them. They are told God hates them & if they don’t go along they will go to hell. How scarey is that?

Giving love & meeting their needs will open up trust.

Casterate the old monsters. How good do they have it? it makes me SICK!!

Renee   April 9th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

$24 million per year tax free! That’s more than Mr and Mrs. Clinton, the Obamas and the McCains combined!

Genevieve M, TX   April 9th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Am I the only one who choked on a drink when Michael Watkiss said that Warren Jeffs wanted to populate a new group with his “seed” so they would be good-looking?!?! *gag*

Tammy   April 9th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Hey, this funding sounds a lot like the vow of poverty religious take in the Roman Catholic Church. Your money made goes to the order, not you.

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Dale Barlow was a registered sex offender accepted into the church who got a free ticket to child molestation.

Money comes from donations that are required by new members and 10% from current members (tithing) so that they can keep the cash flowing.

Then the mothers claim that they are single mothers unemployed and receive government help.

Teresa, in Dallas   April 9th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

never mind, I just heard Randi Kaye explain it!!!

that’s very swift service…ask, and it is immediately answered on TV. :-)

carmen   April 9th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

love Randi

Chuck in Alabama   April 9th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Isn’t this intent to commit fraud?

Rose from Southern Calif   April 9th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Hip hops babies…now I”ve seen everything.

Cody   April 9th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

I’m from Christoval TX and have ranch that shares a fence with the FLDS and I just have to say I’m proud to be a texan.

Tannis   April 9th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

My biggest question…….WHY WAS SOMETHING NOT DONE ABOUT THIS SOONER?!?!? I have a hard time believing with all the men and women that have escaped this lifestyle that these allegations were not brought to anyone’s attention sooner. Why does the media have to initiate public outrage for authorities to jump on it?

Many woman and children could have been saved from this.

Grrr.

Sebbe - Mystic, Connecticut   April 9th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

This welfare / tax fraud is CRAZY. We have known about this for years now. Where is the FBI. They must be able to charge these people with something.

Cody   April 9th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

I’ve watched every building go up from the hill on my place and thank the lord that this is hopefully over. Please continue to pray for these young women

Chuck in Alabama   April 9th, 2008 10:30 pm ET

You really want to get scared of flying? Take a ride on a low-bid constructed, low-bid maintained military aircraft.

mona   April 9th, 2008 10:30 pm ET

You know what I’m not even mad that FLDS families are using welfare, better than our taxes that are used in Iraq.

Rose from Southern Calif   April 9th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

All religion men are not like these polygmists.

Sebbe - Mystic, Connecticut   April 9th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

I always wonder when Anderson is off if he comes here and posts under an alias. LOL. BTW - miss Anderson, but a well deserved break. And great with the all woman show.

You go girls!!

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

Wow they had no homes for these children? holy moly. To really believe in one person that much.

This would be one of those times I would reflect on my childhood and say it really was not that bad after all!

evelyn summers   April 9th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

i thin the fbi didnt want another waco

Chuck in Alabama   April 9th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

Hey Cody. When I was at Goodfellow AFB, I remember driving down the highway from San Angelo to I-10 and the only thing out there was the AF Radar site. Bet that big ol ugly white building is a real eyesore.

Tammy   April 9th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

You know, if these fleets are having problems, what is being done to check other fleets? I fly Continental, and I’m just curious since I’ll be flying with them out of the country this summer.

Cody   April 9th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

To answer your question Tannis - There was no probable cause to enter the ranch. There have been a couple of escapes from the Texas ranch but all they ever say is they were escaping polygamy - nothing else - Finally the authorities down here had something to go on. Trust me - they’ve been waiting to enter that property - I’ve brought many things to their attention and they listened to every word but by doing this now it will be able to be upheld.

Renee   April 9th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Tammy isn’t that the truth! Keep them honest about all that art at the Vatican. All the houses in Florida that the priest come to retire in. Then they kick the nuns out of their home in West Palm Beach. I think churches should start paying taxes. Do away with this tax exempt status business!

Jerome   April 9th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

I’m glad they are going after these freaks..but there are huge compounds in Georgia and Virginia in which muslims are doing the very same thing. Moreover, they are amassing huge weapons arsenals and threatening their neighbors so the government needs to check that out too.

maryellen   April 9th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

I am shocked, saddened and disgusted that a country as powerful, free, ambitious and savy as the United States could have stood by for so long without stopping this heinous abuse of children. What are we doing spending billions interfering in other countries when our own country is practicing some of the most outrageous abuse known to man? Come on fellow Americans……..make us proud again. Polygamists are making a laughing stock of our justice system.

Megan Dresslar   April 9th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Oh boy! that is not good news for America Airlines is ground 22 planes including Alaska Airlines.

Anna   April 9th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Southwest.. American.. what airline is next to ground air planes?? As it stands flying is not fun.. now thinking the planes aren’t safe?? What’s next?!?!

Erica Hill
CNN

Sebbe, hate to disappoint but I think AC is truly taking a vaca this time — and much deserved!

Btw, Campbell asked that I say hello to everyone for her — and she says thanks for all of your kind posts.

Cody   April 9th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

Yes, that temple is an eyesore - My land is borders the north of the property and I’ve watched every moment. I was actually intersted in the land when it when up for sale 5 years ago - I kick myself everyday for not buying it.

Chuck in Alabama   April 9th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

Reckon I’ll make sure I’m not flying on any MD-80s anytime soon.

Jason - Texas   April 9th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

It’s awful hundreds of these people can be living so close to us and we have no idea. I think polygamy is much wider spread than we realize.

Lorie Ann, Buellton, California   April 9th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

The pilots should refuse to fly if they think it’s unsafe. The American public have to be at the mercy of all of this. Nothing is 100 percent safe, but they are tempting fate for a terrible accident waiting to happen. Money, should not be an excuse.

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

I hate flying. I flew last year and I have to do multiple shots at the bar before boarding or I am a mess. Turbulence scares me to death.

This pilot mentions pressurization…when i read this story this a.m. I did some research on altimeters, which pressurize the cabin, and there was a certificate that said there was a specific altimeter manufactured in japan and China that must not be used, some has ended up in planes.

Any connection? Did they get all the altimeters?

Jennifer NC   April 9th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

So is it going to take a catastrophic plane crash before American Airlines admits the problem is a big one? I think I trust the people flying the planes more the the people sitting in offices making statements.

Tammy   April 9th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

Sure Boeing didn’t know. Sorry for being such a cynic.

Megan O. Toronto, ON, Canada   April 9th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

yeah Campbell finally sent a hello

Teresa, Kent, Ohio   April 9th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

I know we changed topics to the planes, but does anyone know how many MALES lived on the polygamy compound? Males that could take wives?

On the planes: at least the FAA and airlines are TRYING to do something about safety issues. They are losing alot of money and alot of customers. I hope they get it right for all you flyers : )

Rose from Southern Calif   April 9th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

Erica tell Anderson when you see him, Whats Happening?

Cody   April 9th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

I’ve watched these people on daily basis and they are litereally slaves on this ranch. All you see them do is work on construction or work in the field or the mill. It truly disgust me every weekend. My wife is in the medical field and has been up to the fort and says many of these children don’t even know what a crayon or soccer ball is. They had no fun

Chuck in Alabama   April 9th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

Abusing the system while maligning it is an American tradition for many groups.

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

I did research on the FAA website by the way and that was where i found the altimeter warning from 2000. The pilot never explained the de-pressurization.

Of course the FAA says its safe to fly. Clearly they need policing.
We need CNN to keep on this….does anyone at CNN know Harry Waxman? He needs to question FAA Officials…now!

Megan Dresslar   April 9th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

Chuck in Al
I am also agree with you. I never ride md-80 anymore.

carmen   April 9th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

Erica, tx for the whereabouts of AC. You’re all like family and we worry when we don’t know where you are LOL

Cody   April 9th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

Jason - I’ve known who lives beside me the whole time but there is absolutely nothing you can do about it - In our community we knew the moment they bought the land.

Tannis   April 9th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

Lets face it, Polygamists are not necessarily child molesters, they’re just cheaters. In my eyes everyone is entitled to their own choice of lifestyle if it doesn’t have a negative effect on others……..in this case the men that run this cult should be sent to jail for participating or enabling the harm that has been brought to these young women and children.

Hats off to the men and women that have had the strength to escape!

Will do, Rose.

Teresa, I’m glad the FAA and the airlines are doing sthg, too, but I can’t help but wonder why it took Drew’s story to get things rolling…that’s how it appears, anyway

Rose from Southern Calif   April 9th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

Money it the thing here, American Airlines are not worried about the people they are serving but the money they are losing each day.

Ramone Diaz, Venezuela   April 9th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

Hello Miss Campbell good job so far ! : )
can Erica and Michael Ware host 360 when AC is off? please?
love to see Erica teasing Michael

Chuck in Alabama   April 9th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

Rice on the ticket would be Obama’s biggest nightmare.

Sebbe - Mystic, Connecticut   April 9th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

Thanks for the response Erica !! It amazes me you have time to actually read this during the show.

This whole polygamist scam / nightmare during the day of the protest in San Francisco about China is a joke. Why do we think we are so superior to them on human rights. Polygamy, Gitmo, waterboarding, etc.

Love Candy Crowley. What a good show tonight girls.

Tammy   April 9th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

Renee, I asked once at the Vatican about all the art and was told it was for the glory of God. A priest told me this (who is diocesan and doesn’t take the vow of poverty).

Interesting ticket idea?! Hmm.

Megan O. Toronto, ON, Canada   April 9th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

I find this poll out if New York very interesting. Who would have thought McCain/Rice would even have a chance of being ahead of the “dream ticket”

Condi Rice totally gives people the best of both worlds a Africian American woman. He down fall is being associated with Pres. Bush

Chuck in Alabama   April 9th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

There we go with polls again. There are MANY, MANY polls and all of them don’t have Obama in the lead.

Stacy   April 9th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

Why isn’t Campbell blogging? Just wondering.

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

Well said Chuck!

Condi Rice, eh? I think it would make the democrats race more difficult

Kelly (Winchester,TN)   April 9th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

As I was watching CNN a couple of nights ago, a volunteer mentiond that some of the very small girls didn’t know aything about a baby doll. They were actually carrying around real infants. That is the way they learn to be mothers. Think about what kind of person could possibly think this is the way life should be.

Carla Ontario Canada   April 9th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

Someone obviously is not doing their job at the FAA/airlines. Last week I believe there was a hearing held for the 3 FAA whisleblowers re the Southwest problems. One man was almost in tears testifying as his boss pretty much threated him to keep silent about maintenance issues. Does it take another disaster to wake them up.

Patty   April 9th, 2008 10:44 pm ET

Rice on the ticket? Give me a break. He might as well choose Bush.

Teresa, Kent, Ohio   April 9th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

Stacy: LOL… I think Campbell has her hands full and she is doing a GREAT JOB !!! Heck, even AC doesnt blog alot : )

I love Candy’s reporting, she breaks everything down and makes it make sense to us common folks : ) ^5 Candy!

Too bad we can’t pull the games from Beijing. What will we do? Our image won’t be any better if we do not protest in some way…

I guess China is just too important to our economy, considering we owe them so much money and are paying them with treasury bills…

Jason - Texas   April 9th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Cody, did you see members of the group out in the community. I just can’t imagine seeing “the compound” at Wal-Mart. I wonder if this will impact the tv show Big Love…which is so great.

Michael in Lafayette, IN   April 9th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Putting Condeleeza Rice on the Republican ticket would make me more likely to vote for Obama in the fall, not less likely.

Rose from Southern Calif   April 9th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Erica can do the computer and show at the same time what a Smart Lady.

TED   April 9th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

These people twist the intent of the constitution of our country to further their own pedophilac agenda. They also insulate themselves and protect their interests through political infiltration of the local authorities..It’s real simple…picture any young girl you see around you,
then picture some 50 year old sicko have her engage in numerous sexual activities by demand. there is a latin term used in the legal proceedings in this country. It’s called a memorandum of “res Ipsa locquitor” which mean literally “the thing speaks for itself”. you can put a dress on a pig,but it’s still a pig.I wonder how many child molesters have creatively seen the holy light and sought out this compound, so they can cloak their nefarious activites under the hallowed separation of church and state doctrine.these people think we screw our heads on in the morning.?let them start their own country in the south american forest and name it pedophilia.

Sebbe - Mystic, Connecticut   April 9th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

Condi Rice is a joke. She could have had a future with the republican party and especially attracting the independents. She has been a failure as Secretary of State (how can you compare her to Madeline Albright). She is way too connected to the worst president in American history.

Anna   April 9th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

I wonder where Anderson goes for his holidays.. according to his book he has a hard time relaxing.. I hope he’s relaxing this week.. he deserves it!

Carlotta E. Santori   April 9th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

CLINTON—ERICA.H. O8

Kim   April 9th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

It’s interesting Gen. Petraeus says he would argue against any order by the next president to pull out the troops when he is unable to say what the objective in Iraq even is anymore and what would constitute a “victory”…. Makes me wonder.

june   April 9th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

Campbell…great interviewing..you take the questionjs right out of my mouth.

Kelly (Winchester,TN)   April 9th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

Cody, can you give more insight on why nothing could be done as far as possibly shutting the compund down?

Tammy   April 9th, 2008 10:49 pm ET

Condi Rice has to follow her boss just like everyone else. I’d be interested to see how she thinks on her own without “W” around. She’s highly intelligent, and she didn’t get where she is because she’s anybody’s puppet.

Patty   April 9th, 2008 10:49 pm ET

Rice on the ticket would be bad news for McCain. Any independence
he has from this disastrous administration would be lost.

Chuck in Alabama   April 9th, 2008 10:50 pm ET

Tammy, I concur. Remember Colin Powell quit because of W and Cheney.

Oooh, Lugina, no politics for this girl! I’ll stick to reporting on them, but I dont think you’ll ever see my name on a ballot — but thanks :-)

Slater   April 9th, 2008 10:50 pm ET

They want Rice on the ticket to take care of the female/African American issue.

Yes, Clinton /Edwards. I wish Edwards was more popular.

Thanks all for being here tonight, I really enjoy doing this.

Have a great night all.

lugina   April 9th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

M.WARE… my hero…great man…

Renee   April 9th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

I think Condi would be an honorable running mate. I like her. She is brillant. We need more woman in DC.

Yvonne   April 9th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

I don’t think the Olympics should be a way to make a political statement. If America wants to Boycott China, why don’t we take everything that says made in China off our shelves. Boycotting the opening ceremonies is a cheap way to show solidarity for injustice. We’re piggy backing on this event to avoid real responsibility. I feel bad for the all the Chinese who have nothing to do with their government’s injustices. Maybe we can boycott the closing ceremony when all our athletes have already returned home. Let the games begin!

Tannis   April 9th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

Thanks for all the information Cody! Maybe my neighbours aren’t that strange afterall!

Rose from Southern Calif   April 9th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

Colin Powell might be McCain running mate?

Sebbe - Mystic, Connecticut   April 9th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

Michael Ware is good. CNN should bring him back from Iraq more often. I was glad they brought him to watch the senate testimony this week.

Lorie Ann, Buellton, California   April 9th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

Michael Ware has very valid points. I find it strange that everyone agreed with him until he stated his feelings that we can’t just pull out. We have to listen to the Generals. An election won’t vanish reality. Mr Ware has some excellent observations of how political this has become.

Tammy   April 9th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

Michael Ware rocks. I am so glad to get his perspective on Iraq. He tells it honestly.

Megan O. Toronto, ON, Canada   April 9th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

oh I can not wait for Micheal Ware’s interview with Patreaus tomorrow

I live in Texas, but have a home in Westcliffe, Co. A group of FLDS moved on to the property adjoining ours in the winter of 06 and are running a compound. From the mountain directly above us, anyone can see directly into the compound. I wonder if they know this. They are observed by many of the locals from this vantage point. I think they have underground bunkers so that would explain why everyone can’t be found.

Chuck in Alabama   April 9th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

Obama doesn’t seem to be worried about the black vote anymore. He doesn’t attend high profile African American gatherings. He wasn’t at the MLK Memorial events in Memphis last week and he wasn’t at the State of the Black Union in New Orleans. I wonder if he’s distancing himself in order to court the white vote?

Renee   April 9th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

Rose, Powell said never on network news!

This baby business is weird!

Kelly (Winchester,TN)   April 9th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

I really find it hard to believe that this is the first time that 1 girl out of over 500 women and children, is the first to come out with the truth about the compound. Any possibility that other accusations were ignored because of the power and money these poligamist have?

Genevieve M, TX   April 9th, 2008 10:55 pm ET

cute babies

Rose from Southern Calif   April 9th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

Tannis   April 9th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

Moroni - Don’t give these guys any ideas, they may move the compounds to the philipines…………..
