he was a man, though flawed and full of dreams.
the thing that i've always gone back to in my defense of my personal candidate choice, is how so many forget the good, and choose to remember that bad.
Dr.King stood for an ideal of good, and no matter the flaws, he'll always be remembered that way.

Thanks for your frank and honest information on this great man. It puts a whole human like scenario to him. I am a Jamaican that has always been enthralled by this hero. I still get a lump in my throat every time I hear his :" I have a dream speech. I look forward to being able to read your book

Tom

Thanks for sharing with us. Your story was full of things that make Dr. King a more human figure - his liking for rib sandwiches, his cigarette habit, his hiding that habit from his wife, his worries, his working hours - all that makes a more well rounded picture of Dr. King. He was a great man and is greatly missed

Its stories such as this that which seldom make the mainstream press. After 40 years, many will begin see "the man" as told through the eyes of ordinary, everyday people. After forty years, how fantastic it is that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s favorite speech still brings chills to my spine and tears to my eyes.

Tom,
Thanks for sharing with us some of your memories and a little glimpse back into history. It seems that you became another member of the family to him. That must have been something in itself!I hope that King's dream of helping the impoverished people can become a reality to where no one goes hungry, homeless or without anything in the U.S.
