Live Blog from the Anchor Desk 3/27/08

Anderson anchors from Los Angeles again tonight.

We'll begin with breaking news. Barack Obama weighing in, again, on his former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, as ugly new statements associated with the reverend emerge.

Also tonight, the economy and what Democrats say they'll do to fix it.

And much more.

We'll start posting comments at 10p ET and close the blog at 11p ET.

It's interesting that BOTH terms – "liberal" and "conservative" now seem to have negative connotations. Maybe it says something about the way we treat those we disagree with... and I'm not sure it's something good

Rose, you are absolutely correct, but as you see, we still have double standards in this county, sadly. Some people get to say whatever and others get ridiculed because of what someone else may or may not have said. I guess it depends on the person!

Instead of constrating on Rev Wright maybe the media needs to focus more on Bear Stearns? Why not?

Thanks for the insights of Michael Ware on the situation in Iraq. It's clear that the so called benefits of the surge are tenuous at best, and as usual, Mr. Ware reflects the truth of the situation without reserve. That's why he is the only PERSON that I trust to report on the Iraq war.

How many companies does the government think it can bail out? I'd hope all those companies with shoddy business practices will not be given a blank check of a bailout.

McCain, Obama, Clinton... It does not matter to me, but the real question is what are they doing now to help reduce gas prices and stop the home foreclosures. I don't want to hear their plan when they get elected! What are they doing now? This is the real test, it is not about doing something when you get elected.

Well yea, there is something inherently wrong with the term "liberal". Pure liberal polices have been tried here, and they clearly dont work. A moderate approach on the other hand, is what the country need. Obama, if elected, will most likely take this approach as the Democrats would not have enough votes to railroad in liberal policies.

If Senator Obama had not been running for the office of President this would not be such a huge deal. But with all the serious controversy that his pastor/mentor has around him, it does reflect on Obama's caricature. Senator Obama claim early on that he was unaware of any of this taking place, now the Reverends offensive words are on church brochures shows a troubling side that we need to know more of. Senator Obama still does not see this as a big issue and that is very troubling. The media should study more into this issue, this will affect the nation. If Senator Obama had know that this was going to be a problem early on in his campaign he should have come out and been truthful, instead of trying to hide this. The country had the right to have all the facts before they went to the polls. We need someone in office who can correct the mess we are in, not have someone who may bring problems with them. We need the full truth! He is applying for this job and we will be his employers, we have the right to asked these questions and have them answered.

Obama says he's not a liberal, hah.. that's why Move.On.org supports him Huffington Post, Daily Kos and every other far left and so-called progressive group out there, Obama's just trying to pull a fast one on the American people, like his "new kind of politics" and ' I'm not into labels," like most liberal senator in the senate.

I hope our president listens to Michael Ware's
reports on 360. Iraq is a disaster. This is my 2
cents worth L that is why Democrats will not
vote for McCain in November. It defies logic,

I find it disturbing to see democratic politicians feeling pity and regret for the people who were ignorant enough not to get a fixed rate mortgage. I feel there is no intelligent way to justify bailing out people who didn't take the time to read the fine print and who didn't care to understand the logistics of an adjustable rate mortgage.

I'm glad to see the show move away from the Obama/Wright issue. The economy and Iraq are so much more worth our time.

What's a liberal? It's someone who believes that everyone should have a voice. That is unless you're conservative. Or Republican. Or especially a conservative Republican.

You would think with these polls that the media would be able to figure out that most people really don't care about Rev. Wright.
I don't care and I'm sick of hearing it. It's the media that's causing this issue to stay around. We want to hear about the economy, the war and where these candidates stand on issues. Do we hear that? Not at all. My advice to the media regarding Rev. Wright is GET OVER IT!
Most voters don't watch the news shows like the rest of us and some don't even know that much about the Church issue and most people don't care. What ever happened to seperation of church and state. or Do we really want to go there and check out the ministers and religions on every public official. Like McCain's Hagee . You guys need to report news and issues.

Anderson, the most important aspect of this story to me, and those I know, is that it has shed light on who Barack Obama is. He is clearly a follower of this man and for me that includes the theology espoused. I cannoy believe that one could love this man, declare him his mentor without embracing his beliefs especially given the congregation setting that has everything to do with belief.
Thank you for your coverage, I believe it is not bashing on tha part of anyone to bring to the forefront a candidates fervent associations so that we can better know who he is, especially in the case of this candidate that we know so little about.

David: You've made my point exactly. If Obama knew Reverend Wright for 20 years, the senator's legendary judgement is very slow indeed to finally be able to say on tomorrow's "The View" that he would have (code for "should have") left the church as a result of such comments from the pulpit.

If Hillary gets the nomination I'm going to vote for McCain also and I'm a Democrat. But I don't trust her either. And all she wants from the minorities is for us to vote for her and I will not let her use me.

I'm a conservative who supports Obama. Is there something wrong with the word liberal? America needs to start reading. Start by reading Obama's bestseller. I actually am pro-life, and against gay marriage, but I know that Obama is the man to take America to the next level, enabling us to relate to the rest of the world.

  39. Lawrence Smith

If Obama is so liberal, then why do his economic policies always try to leverage market principles to solve problems?

I'm not sure why Democrats run away from the term liberal. The voters agree with "liberal" policies, like affordable healthcare, fair trade policies, fair taxation policies, etc.

If Democrats had any guts they would use this election to turn the tables – and make conservative a bad word associated with corruption, greed and misplaced religious ideology.

Let the voters choose which label is worse.

we plan to vote for Barack Obama. My wife and I vote republican but after listening to Barack, we decided we would give him a chance and vote for him. If by chance Hillary Clinton wins the democractic nomination, we will be voting for John McClain despite what the republicans have done to this economy. It would be very hard for us to trust Senator Clinton as Native Americans.
