Regarding the Walmart Lawsuit, From my experience working for a personal injury attorney, the attorney contacts the ins. company and finds out what they agree has to be paid back and then gets it signed and in writing when settlement is made, to avoid the ins. company coming back years later and demanding it. I don't know why this was not done when the case was settled. It's usually part of the settlement process.

If Wal-mart took a poll of its employees and asked them if they felt burdened by having to pay for this woman's medical expenses, I wonder what their response would be. After hearing this story I can't imagine how anyone would mind paying a few cents towards this woman's medical expenses. Shame on Wal-mart.

I think the problem here is that Walmart does not want to set a precedent., which will open them up to provide the same coverage for all their employees. But, if I were Walmart, I would have kept this out of the media. They could have arranged to forgive the debt. Or a rich family member could have donated the monies to the family. Many people help family members and others all the time and no one knows it but them. This situation could have been handled with a lot more diginity. Sad all around.

I am totally sickened by walmart sueing this family. Maybe everyone could get a donation together around the country for this family. If I was a wealthy I would write them a check myself. I would also stop shopping at walmart.

Completely unreal that a company of this size would even think about asking for the money back from this unfortunate family. I ALWAYS felt Wal-Mart was ridiculous in my mind and have never shopped there. This nonsense is the reason why I do not associate myself with such an abserd company. Wal-Mart...low standards...ALWAYS.

As a voting Democrat, I have watched and read everything I can about each candidate. I can’t believe that it is that difficult for other democrats to see what’s going on. I was torn between both candidates. But after the Wright news came out, I changed my mind. It made me support him more than ever. The attacks he faced, while keeping a truthful and honorable spirit, for me makes him the strongest, most consistent one for the job. While Hillary has in the last few days been shown as one that doesn’t always tell the truth. It’s not a crime to create a fish story, but I am hesitant to think that if she stretches the truth will anything she says have meaning

I agree with so many of the other blogs tonight that the media coverage is so anti-Hillary and treats Obama as if he walks on water.
It is clear that so many of the pundits (Chris Matthews, Keith Obermann, Gloria Borger, Jack Cafferty et al) and the media in general do not like the Clintons and are clearly enamoured with Obama. Everything she says and does is pounced on, replayed and repeated over and over. He never gets asked the tough questions, gets a pass on everything and has not been vetted by the media to the degree that she has. So how does the voter get to know Barack Obama when the media has already interjeted itself and is trying to sway the Democratic nomination toward him? Who is he? What does he really believe when he is a member of a racist, anti-American church for twenty years? Why is he given a pass on this? How does this reflect on his truthfulness? About being a uniter (didn't we have a so-called president who also claimed the same thing? look how that turned out). What does this say about his judgement? It's easy for him to claim he wouldn't have supported the Iraq resolution when he wasn't in the Senate at the time, wasn't privy to the intel or sitting in the hot seat actually casting a vote. What kind of experience does he have to be prez? The pundits had better believe that Hillary's supporters are growing angrier by the day at the sexist, uneven coverage by the media of this race and their candidate. The media is doing its best to sway the nomination for Obama. Hillary cannot even raise a legitimate criticism without Obama's campaign whining or the media labeling her "Tonya Harding" employing dirty tactics. So, in other words, any criticism of him is off limits but they are free to call her names, call her a liar, question her character, motives, pressure her to drop out of the race even though millions of voters haven't weighed in yet and the race is so close. I am so disgusted. I will vote for McCain if Obama is the nominee and that is what I'm hearing from every other Democrat I know. Yes, its a long time until November. Come together? Not a chance. We won't forget what the media has done to interject itself into the process.

I have never liked WalMart and I refuse to spend my money there. I would rather pay 50 dollars more at Target than spend at WalMart .
I feel bad for this women with the accident and insurance issues . I like the insurance companies as much as I do WalMart . Something should be done about this . We , the public need a cruisader like you Anderson to pursue this issue and keep it alive . Insurance companies should not be allowed to get away with this and neither should WalMart and other Companies .

Honestly, Wal-Mart has the right to sue to get their money back, but they don't HAVE to sue...400K is a drop in the bucket to them...the situation is so tragic only Scrooge would have asked for the money back....with interest!!!

I think what Wal-Mart is outrageous and think that they are completely wrong. Asking for money from someone that is now disable that former employee is not American. Due to the situation I think that Wal-Mart should really consider how they should really handle this.

Wow...apperantly laws are more important that the concept of human compassion for some people at wal mart. I want to know how the people who enforce these types of things for wal mart can sleep at night after hearing about a situation like this knowing that they are contributing to the tragedy.
