Anderson: Let Erica Blog while your on Live

edward-destin fl   February 27th, 2008 10:00 pm ET

Woot first post! Who do you guys think won the debate last night?

Sarah Bradley   February 27th, 2008 10:00 pm ET

Good evening Anderson and Erica!!!!!!

Megan   February 27th, 2008 10:00 pm ET

hello everyone!
Finally! Anderson made it his computer fix.

Kevin,FL   February 27th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

I don’t Think the media should really count out Hillary Rodham Clinton. Rep Lewis, all of a sudden you agreed with Clinton and now your against her. why?

Michael, NC   February 27th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

All I can say is that I’m glad that AC360 is going to put the Clemens subject in tonight. I’m tired of hearing the circles that ESPN is running in. Hopefully Anderson and the 360 team have some good input of their own.

Erin Taylor   February 27th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

Anderson,
I have a question that no one seems to be able to answer. Since steroids were not illegal during the time that Brian McNamee claimed Clemens used the drugs, why was he even on trial in the first place and why is Congress so upset about it? He even says he isn’t going back to baseball and plans to stay retired this time; from his past of coming out of retirement, however, who knows if this retirement will last. haha.

anderson cooper   February 27th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

good evening everyone.. a lot of politics tonite but also roger clemens and the shark attack with some interesting angles on why these kind of trips may be dangerous…for sharks.

chris   February 27th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

Hilary definitely won, but as usual the media over plays everything Obama.

Lorie Ann   February 27th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

Polls? They come and go..Let’s let the people vote. I still don’t think it’s over just yet for anyone.

Lorie Ann, Buellton, Calif.

Jeremy, KY   February 27th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

I think Hillary is fighting over stuff that is too old! Shame on Hillary! We do need Change, but I’m not so sure either knows how to bring it forward.

Jennifer, Washington DC   February 27th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

Evening everyone! Question, do endorsements make a difference for anyone? I know they don’t for me, so I was wondering if they do for others.

Delia, Indiana   February 27th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

Hillary made the comment about getting the first question, not to be a victim, but because EVERY TIME she gets the question first, Obama agrees with most of what she says and then puts in his own little jabs. Does no one notice this about Obama? He loves playing follow the leader.

Bonarez   February 27th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

Bill Cunnigham endorsed Hillary? - Hillary should denounce and reject that endorsement!

Megan   February 27th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

wow sharks! that is vey danger! I am so scared of sharks.

Kevin,FL   February 27th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

McCain Sir the American People.. more than half of us don’t want the war to continue You Sir will have a difficult time winning the White House in 2008 despite what the polls say..

PS- Candy Crowley is such an amazing reporter

edward-destin fl   February 27th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

I really don’t think sharks should be used for food, that’s just mean. There are only about 60 shark attacks a year…compared to the millions and millions of sharks that are killed just for their fins

Shawn, Pa   February 27th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

I just got my new voter reg cards today, i switched from rep to dem. and why, because of things like , “I have news for John Mccain, Al Queda wouldnt be in Iraq if it wouldnt be for president Bush and Mr. Mccain invading Iraq!”

Cheryl,Johnston RI   February 27th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

If Hillary is a ‘woman of action’ how come her actions can’t win a primary. Or at least any of the last 10?

Marcia   February 27th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

For me it depends on who the endorsement is from - a celeb no, but someone or group who has something to say I’ll listen to them then decide.

Sarah Bradley   February 27th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Anderson,
My brother used to work on Dirt Jobs and was on crew when they did shark week….he said the sharks were amaizing animals…and he was scared when he was in the cage but that it was one of the most amiazing things ever…

Delia, Indiana   February 27th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Depending on “Who” the endorsement is from yes.

Kathy   February 27th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

I think endorsements make a difference for the undecided. Where is Bill Clinton these days?

Lauren, Los Angeles   February 27th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

Everybody loves a shark attack right? i think we all need a little comic relief from the Obama vs. Hillary race….

next we’ll be debating who had a better breakfast this morning

Cheerios or Shredded Wheat

mmm time for dinner …

Sarah Bradley   February 27th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

endorsments dont make a difference for me, but I think some people do, do what the more prominate people do…

Kevin,FL   February 27th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

Jennifer I really don’t think endorsements make a difference take the Kennedy’s for example, and what happened in Mass.

Desire   February 27th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

Hi Anderson,
Don’t you think that Obama got free ride by media and that this might be very dangerous for democrats. He has very little experience and is not big threat to McCain specially now when Ralph Nader stepped in. Hillary will be much better choice.

Kayle   February 27th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

On that comment Bill Clinton made about Obama throwing money at the race. Until lately wasn’t it Hillary who led in money on adds?

Sarah, Atlanta, GA   February 27th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

To me endorsements don’t really mean anything.

Chris in Sarasota   February 27th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

Regarding Clemons … I must be missing something, because I cannot figure out why his appearance before Congress turned into a partisan rant. What is Democratic and Republican about this???

Jo Ann, Ohio   February 27th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

I have a feeling this is going to be the dirtiest presidential election we have ever seen. I just wish the media would keep their opinions out of it and let the chips fall where they may.

Cheryl,Johnston RI   February 27th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

If McCain loses some of the conservative vote..wll that help him to pick up some of the independent vote?

Shauna from Syracuse, NY   February 27th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

Endorsements shouldn’t make a difference but I think they do. I definitely think Oprah’s endorsement helped Obama a lot. I think Chuck Norris’ endorsement of Huckabee made his campaign seem like a joke.

Yen Li, Malaysia   February 27th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

yay!!! this is the 1st time i am able to participate on the blog….. I am in Asia and when AC360 is live on TV, I am usually at work. today I am on leave and watching AC360 live. cool!
wow… today Anderson managed to blog at the beginning of the program! good job!

Whitney B in Canada   February 27th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

McCain did the right thing. This issue is being blown out of proportion. It should be swept under the rug so he can move on from this. I’ve heard more about this than about his “sex scandal”.

Megan   February 27th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

Maybe not, cheryl, she might lose her vote.

Lorie Ann   February 27th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

McCain should just move forward and stop trying to connect to the extreme right. I personally want to hear him without the background noise of a group of people who don’t know how to tone down their whining.

Lorie Ann, Buellton, Calif.

Josie   February 27th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Dear Anderson,

Regarding about the shark cases, the publics sure will worry and scare of the shark and people not dare to dive anymore. I think maybe you should explain it to the publics is not because of the sharks. Other than that, are you going to tell us where’s Bill Clinton and will he come out to the publics and say something for Hillary?

Lostfigs   February 27th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Bill Cunningham is a wacko! I think McCain would do better to go on CNN and denounce this guy even more. If the conservs aren’t with him by now, he’s not going to win them over now.

Emty, California   February 27th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Well, good for Sen. McCain. Sticking to being respectful when it could so dearly cost him. That’s a kind of integrity that is rare. I commend him for not apologizing to Mr. Cunningham.

Lisa Baldeo   February 27th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Coop=luddite hehe jk

Is the spanish singing Kennedy hilarious or what?

Kathy, Andover   February 27th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

If Bill Cunningham is done with McCain, can this be the last news coverage we hear about him? Please, oh please, oh please. And maybe he can take Huckabee & Rush with him. NONE of them belong in the news!

sharonlee   February 27th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Can I just say I’ve heard a lot of talk this week about how Clinton came in to this with an “I’m the nominee attitude”. Now I’m a CNN news junkie, I mean I even sleep with CNN on, so I’ve seen a lot of coverage on this. Now I seem to recall the press taunting her into running for this race for about 3 years now, basically since Bush was re-elected. So the press wanted her to run. No one even knew who Obama was until Oprah endorsed him. Now I like Oprah but lets face it, she hasn’t had suck great luck picking people in the past couple years. Look at the person she had running her school, abusing the girls. Also she backed that guy who wrote that book full of lies, and even after it was exposed that he was lying she still backed him and believed in him until he finally admitted he lied. So I don’t think Oprah has been right on all her judgements, and if it wasn’t for her propping up Obama no one would even know who he is.

Becky, NY   February 27th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

Hello Anderson and company! I’m a new viewer and addicted to the show. You better believe I’m home by 10p.m. :) Anderson, have you revealedd who you’re supporting?

Jo Ann, Ohio   February 27th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

@Delia in Indiana; I do notice that about Obama, but he cannot do it without the help of the media.

Lauren, Los Angeles   February 27th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

Jennifer in DC… i would have to say across the board endorsements dont mean a thing to me. Except when i woke up on the morning of the CA primary, the first email on my CrackBerry was from Sen Ted Kennedy, endorsing Obama…

Kinda makes your ears perk up when the Granddaddy of the political party speaks up

Otherwise… sorry Oprah, no they dont mean anything

Claire in Birmingham, AL   February 27th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

Anderson, any chance you can preface the shark story with something like “look away if these things scare the living crap out of you”… or something along those lines? Haha

Josie   February 27th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

The publics also might fear of the sharks and kill it without any attacks to the people so this also can cause the dropping populations of the sharks.

Priya   February 27th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

Good for McCain. I am glad that he is willing to stand up for what he believes in. It is really exemplary for a politician

Ray   February 27th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

Can we make the candidates feed the sharks?? Now that’s a show!

Amy, Philly, PA   February 27th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

So… McCain didn’t have to distance himself from Cunningham, but Obama had to distance himself from Farrakhan? That’s how these parties work huh?

Megan   February 27th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

good joke! lisa lol!

Stacy   February 27th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

Is Bay actually defending Cunningham? Unbelievable.

Sarah, Atlanta, GA   February 27th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

This whole political race is turing into a 3 ring circus.

teresa, ohio   February 27th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

Jo Ann: as yet, the election has actually been fairly clean… why do you say that concerning the dirtiest election? ty

Cheryl,Johnston RI   February 27th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Anderson, Dave G, Bay and Roland must have gotten the ‘blue’ memo

Abby   February 27th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Clemens lawyer should be fired for letting him testify before congress, the statute of limitations had long since run on any criminal charged regarding the steroids and all testifying did was open him to perjury charges. Hello! Its not like DOJ doesn’t ever do that. I think perjury is their favorite charge. It’s standard criminal defense lawyering to make your client shut up!!

Ray   February 27th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Get this, Obama has been a Senator for about 4 years now. In that time, he has written books, appeared on tv shows, spent almost 2 years now running for President and ALL the while, we are paying him to do a Job here in Illinois! This is what everyone is so CRAZY for????? Give me a Break! Lou Dobbs is right.

Priya   February 27th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

I agree with Roland completely. Cunningham is like a spoilt brat. i love the comment.

Sonya   February 27th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

Clinton will fight for the people, her healthplan is not for the poor and that is wxactly who we need to cover. They are the ones that we are paying the hidden tax for and they are the ones we will continur to pay the hidden tax for under her plan.

Eric   February 27th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

Endorsements - I think they’re persuasive, especially to folks who aren’t close to the center of things. I’ll bet Ted Kennedy’s endorsement was a lot more effective than people seem to think. Mass. didn’t go Obama but Clinton’s fortunes took a downward turn after Kennedy weighed in. When someone like Kennedy says he “doesn’t think she can win” it’s probably because he knows it for a fact. Clinton did well in Calif. but that maight be because of early voting.

Jeff   February 27th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

To Shauna, I agree that Chuck’s support was made out to be bigger then it should of but at least he let his voice be heard. As we have seen, Obama has brought out more people to the booths then any other race. With that said, I truly hope that if he losses that those people still make sure that they are heard.

Lilibeth   February 27th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

Erica, if you’re blogging, where are you?

Kevin,FL   February 27th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

I hate sharks and oceans

Rafael   February 27th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Anderson, would we be talking about how Obama needs to win TX & OH to continue after losing the last 11 contests? Or would he be undermining party unity at this point?

Marcia   February 27th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Jo Ann I agree with you about the media staying out of politics, the weird media that is. But they won’t go away into the night just because people want them to, they are too popular and some people use them as their brain when it comes to politics.

Kathy   February 27th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

good one Ray!

edward-destin fl   February 27th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Who is Anderson cooper supporting…does anybody know? o.0

Amy, Philly, PA   February 27th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

sharonlee, Oprah made Obama??? Really??? I think he pretty much gained a semi-celebrity status at the 2004 Democratic National Convention and had been floated about as a potential nomineed since then. I seem to remember Hillary being “inevitable” right up until she lost Iowa.

Michael, NC   February 27th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

I hear Ronald. Cunningham is wasting his breath with unreasonable rants.

DBFG   February 27th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

Greetings… from first time blogger

Lorie Ann   February 27th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

Bill Clinton can’t win for losing. If he shows up too much, it’s headline news. If he goes into the background, it’s where is Bill??

Lorie Ann, Buellton, Calif.

Lilibeth   February 27th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

Anderson, regarding the shark incident, what is being done or what measures are being taken so this type of thing doesn’t happen again?

Delia, Indiana   February 27th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

Hey Jo Ann, I agree the media is playing a huge part in the Clinton vs Obama race. I mean, look where we are right now. Technology definitely gives the media an advantage to do the “cha cha”!

Heidi B   February 27th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

thats one thing i am scared of sharks

Lauren, Los Angeles   February 27th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

Shark Attack: Top 10 cool ways to go…

remember that seaworld Orca trainer that was smashed between two Shamoos (sp?) doing aquabatics (sp? again)

but he survived

Kevin,FL   February 27th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

I truly believe there should be a 7 month time limit on a Presidential Race.. the current process is to long and drawn out..

Sonya   February 27th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

I dont believe anybody should denouce anyone, If a person would like to endorse or vote for you. You should embrace it. It shouldn’t be your concern of what they believe in or how they govern their life. Just appreciate their support. They are all part of America.

Mac   February 27th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

I don’t understand Cunningham one bit. I watched him on Hannity and Colmes on FNC about 20 minutes ago, and he tried to say his comments about “Barack Hussein Obama” were just respectively acknowleding his full name. Give me a break. He was using the name indirectly as a scare tactic. Anyways, Go McCain!

Shawn, Pa   February 27th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

AC cannot come out and support a candidate. i would hope everyone knows and understands that. It would not be proper for his profession.

Alex   February 27th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Why doesn’t Roger Clemens take a lie detecter test like he said he would in 60 minutes? The test would make it very clear of what is going on. I do not believe Roger Clemens would have the ability to fake the test!

Kayle   February 27th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Lol HI Erica! Anderson is so mean to you about the live blog.

LaKeisha Chestnut   February 27th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

I’m happy to finally be apart of this. I finally get to speak my mind.

James in Canada   February 27th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Cunningham made a fool of himself, and made the republican party look like a bunch of backward dinosaurs. God for John MCain for putting him in his place.

Boy do us liberals love watching conservatives fight amongst themselves.

Kevin,FL   February 27th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Enormous Success in Iraq? Where Bay.. Please Explain

Kristin, Miami   February 27th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

edward-destin fl– Trust me, he wont tell us. Anderson has a firm “no opinions” “not wearing his politics on his sleeve” rule. We arent going to find out not for a very long time, probably not ever.

Fabian Blache III   February 27th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Endorsements have their value. For one, they demystify where some of the so-called Super delegates allegiances are placed. For instance, the recent defections of so many in this democratic primary have begun to trend in the same manner as the votes and polls. That is a strong indication that they are germane to one another in some meaningful way.

teresa, ohio   February 27th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Lorie Ann: Its ok if Bill shows up. Its what he is saying that is getting him in trouble. If he wants to BACK UP Hillarys plans for the country that’s great…. But he cant put on his fighting gloves and name call on behalf of Hillary. It doesnt look good.

kevin from Tokyo   February 27th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Great show as always Anderson.
I think Mr. McCain showed a little something you don’t see in politics. Class! It is refreshing to see a person committed to his beliefs and morals won’t stoop to cheap name calling.

Marta K-Florida   February 27th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

We in Florida thought the idiot who got drunk a few years back, jumped in the water with bull sharks thinking they were dolphins and got himself bit was the height of dumb tourist moves….but now comes this guy who got himself killed by bloddying the waters with chum and hand feeding them!

Arika   February 27th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

I think that the radio show host should have been put in his place because he came out of his mouth with some nasty things. What kind of person is he! Also, being a military wife, this war is over its been over. Al Qaida operatives need to found and prosecuted. They weren’t in Iraq prior to this war. If President Bush went after al qaida the first time, we wouldn’t have to worry about them in Iraq or setting up camp in Iraq. We paved the way for al qaida in Iraq, if they are there.

Sandy   February 27th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

In regard to Obama being favored over Hillary by the Media:

Bill Cunningham took some shots at Obama — but also at the Clintons. The only ones the media highlighted, and the only person they defended was Obama.

What’s up with that?

David   February 27th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

The Super-D Flip……John Lewis has turned the tides. I wonder if more superdelegates will switch to Obama before Tuesday’s primaries? I’ll go out on a limb and say that three more will publicy flip by then…

Aaron, VA   February 27th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Hey Anderson, I think you do an excellent job on the show…now to my point:

I think it’s ludicrous that conservatives are claiming that the talk show host did nothing wrong by repeatedly using the term ‘Hussein’ and calling him ‘the Prophet from Chicago’…..they claim he was just saying his middle name with no bad intent…but let’s get real the insinuation was to stir up the fact that Obama’s ancestry has individuals who are of the Muslim faith and somehow Obama is of the Muslim faith thereby trying to use a tactic to scare voters.

As an Independent, hearing John McCain’s quick apology increased my respect for McCain and his character…let’s make this race an issue of who has the better ideas, who has the ability to transform this country and NOT about race or religion.

What are your thoughts?

Jeff   February 27th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Maybe we should have all of the delegates swim with the sharks. Who ever makes it out alive is our next president! LOL I bet Hillary will win because she will put on boxing gloves before anyone else. I hope she will win both states and keeps the pressure on the rookie.

David A Morse, Stoneham, MA   February 27th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Anderson:

I agree with Roland Martin. McCain was right to attack the Radio Host for his comments on Obama. That host acted improperly. This just confirms for me why these radio hosts are acting like self important spoiled brats. If the GOP looses the 2008 election because of Rush and these other conservative hosts, than they deserve what they get. McCain is the Adult in the GOP.

Lynn In St. Louis   February 27th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Anderson, don’t you honestly believe that sexism is alive and well in the US, but racism will not be tolerated? I’m specifically referring to the media’s treatment of Hillary Clinton. It’s okay to say negative things about her, but not about Obama.

There’s a great quote who might want to consider, “A woman has to be twice as good to be thought of as half as competent as a male, but luckily, that is not difficult.”

Cheryl,Johnston RI   February 27th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

What about us??? Rhode Island Primary is March 4 too. Just kidding, I realize our what, delegate count is nothing compared to Ohio & Texas.
Bill’s role is to sit down and shut up!

Ann Byrd   February 27th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

The conservative talk show hosts are making fools of themselves.
As a Past conservative I am embarressed by their behavior. McCain
had enought sense to stop the stupid derogatory remarks by a
supposed supporter. Good for him!!!

edward-destin fl   February 27th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

@Jeff- LOL i definately agree Hillary will win, don’t forget her evil glare and her cackle

mike, ues   February 27th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

cooper your hair is fantasic.

im so glad that picture of erica is back.

Shawn, Pa   February 27th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

I didnt know luddites believed in getting haircuits!

mike   February 27th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Bay, Cunningham, Limbaugh and other so called Republicans might need to take note. I like other Americans are tired of supporting a party set on defeat. I like McCain because he is campaigning on the issues and not name calling. Americans want a president who will work w/ others who do not always agree. Not someone who blindly follows Conservative or Liberal directives.

Steve   February 27th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Why would’nt McCain apologize it is a McCain Rally and his name is associated with it. As far as going against the media I would prefer a candidate that goes against the media, not a media controlled candidate.

Kathy   February 27th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Anderson, I like the hair cut too!

Lostfigs   February 27th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Bull-corn! Roland! Lewis was beat-down and you know it. Come on, I saw the interview and the way he appeared was shameful! This is an American hero and it was very clear that he has been browbeaten by the African American community into changing his support.

ERICA HILL   February 27th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Shauna, endorsements have always baffled me a bit. Would a big name backer be enough to win your vote, or is it more important that you agree with him/her on the issues?

EJ - Ohio   February 27th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Oh, that picture of Erica is too funny.

Lilibeth   February 27th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Anderson, I think secretly you like Erica’s old mullet haircut, which is why you keep teasing her about it! LOL!

James in Canada   February 27th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Seems a little ridiculous that Cunningham sounds like he hates everything John McCain stands for when he was endorsing him not two days ago.

Debbi Hanlon   February 27th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Hillary can’t run a country~she can’t even run a good campaign.
She should consider leaving while she still has some public respect. I think she would have to win all remaining primaries by 60% to catch up. Impossible. Tuesday will be a big day for Obama. And he has campaigned well and deserves a nomination.

Marta K-Florida   February 27th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Wow, does that guy Cunningham look like Howdy Doody or what? About as smart as the puppet too.

Anne   February 27th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Anderson, is it me…or does anyone else find it irritating that McCain freely uses the phrase “my friends” in his comments? He says it so often that it just doesn’t ring true.

Eric   February 27th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Fabian, good point about defection. A stright endorsement is one thing, but when a well-known delegate changes his mind it sends a strong message.

John, CA   February 27th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

I worked with Bill Cunningham for about 7 years in Cincinnati. I think it’s hilarious that he’s getting national attention as that is all he ever really wants. He is a showman to the point where a majority of what he says is B.S. that is meant to get a rise out of people. He will talk about this until he’s blue in the face as long as people will listen. Republican’s are missing the point. It shouldn’t be about the OPINIONS of a few men whose income’s rely on ratings. The only thing Willie and Rush ever want from you is your attention. McCain wants your vote…listen to him. Hooray for a candidate who actually tries to limit the amount of dirt thrown in a run for office.

Bonarez   February 27th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Negative campaigning is not working on Obama - this guy is different…very poised and sooo relaxed! BIll cunningham you are backing on the wrong tree here!

Claire in Birmingham, AL   February 27th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

LOL Erica! That lion mullet will never get old! :D

Sarah Bradley   February 27th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Big names dont mean anything to me…I dont care what big names do I am more interested in what the average person does they dont live in a world where they dont have to worry about the things I do..

Ted   February 27th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

As a follow up to Hillary’s first question comment. It was obvious to me last night as Hillary was being asked about Putin’s succesor that Obama did not have a clue as to who he was. One could almost see the relief on his face that Hillary was asked first. To me it was clear that the question was asked to trip her up and I am a republican!

Carthage   February 27th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

And a good evening to all… Bill Clinton last week made TX overtly into a must-win (from the back of a pick-up truck…) and Chelsea Clinton repeated this. DO we need to define “win”? Is it enough for Sen. Obama to pick up more delegates?

Zach Hoyopatubbi   February 27th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Let’s see…my opinion of roger clemens is that he is guilty. when he went in front of the congressional commitee and said what he did he incriminated himself. i don’t think there is any way to disprove that. with respect to the democratic debate last night i think while clinton came out and proved she was a fighter i think she lost almost nearly lost it and came off as desperate to find any kind of foothold to prevent this obama from gaining more momentum. i don’t think it worked. as everyone said, she didnt accomplish what she needed to. with respect to the races in ohio and texas, recent polls suggest obama is if not in the lead, close to breaking even but i dont think gallup polls are really a good indication. we’ve seen time and time again obama heading into a state with a seemingly sizeable lead and at the end of the night obama has lost to clinton. i think it will be interesting to see what happens. political campaigns are always dirty and it will only get dirtier as the race progresses and we push towards november.

Lostfigs   February 27th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Good one Anne. No, it’s not just you.

Kevin,FL   February 27th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

What Poor planning for whoever planned that drill.

Ann Johnson   February 27th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

I’m totally mystified by David Gergen’s comment about McCain’s comment on Cincinnati Talk Show host. I generally admire David and have since his Newhour appearances with Mark Shields. However, why he wouldn’t support McCain’s effort to stop the talk show host’s garbage comments seems totally out of character for him. Enabling that kind of talk is just what we DO NOT NEED is this country. Are you just too tired, David?

Namaste’ Ann

Sean M   February 27th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Erica,
According to some Super-D’s they should make the choice for us because they know better. Geraldine Ferarro!

Jim Patillo   February 27th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Anderson,

All three candidates talk about programs they will provide, health care, college tuitions, etc. yet they know none of it can happen with the financial (almost bankrupt) situation this country is in. Why don’t you call em on it because they cannot answer a question like that honestly? Just keep em honest!

Shawn, Pa   February 27th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Anne, i agree. I have been “my friend-ed” to death. it is annoying and i’ve noticed it long ago. i figure he’s trying to be like reagan. he used that alot.

Sonya   February 27th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Erica, me toooo. I never liked when a celebrity make their claim on a show. I believe that influence people in the wrong way.

Johna Whitley   February 27th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Erica - I would hope that people would choose based on the issues supported, NOT the backer(s). Unforutnately, I think many feel it’s easier to follow the big names then it is to do the homework and choose wisely. Very sad…

Stacy H.   February 27th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

I don’t care if you are a conservative radio host or not - really can’t we all play nice and say kind things to each other. Talk about the issues and not attack the person I say.

Stephanie, NJ   February 27th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

LOL that was a funny Beat 360 from your producer…

VinceT DC   February 27th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Anderson, Anytime you introduce a subject, I want to listen. Continue your honest and sincere questioning; including your personal humor and skepticism is VERY stimulating and not foreboding at all!

And yes, your haircut is superb!

Maria   February 27th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Hi Erica and Anderson!

Thanks for the politics update. As for the steroids thing, why is this a congressional issue? Shouldn’t sports leagues be dealing with their players’ compliance to drug rules?

Erica, my mom loves your glasses and totally wants a pair… what brand are they?

Nan   February 27th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

I wish McCain would stop calling me his “friend!”

Brent, California   February 27th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Erica: Endorsements are pretty worthless in my opinion. No one should base their vote on someone’s endorsement of one candidate over another. People should vote their for the candidate of their choice based on the issues that are most important to them.

Kay   February 27th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

hi everyone, this is my first time. i gotta say i am a huge fan of ac. i very much appreciate the work that you do. kevin i think hc tried to ruffle a few of bo feathers during the debate last night. . but he did not ruffle. hc obsession with words…denounce? or reject? is making me nuts. i think she was permanently scarred by her spouses statement some years ago, remember this “it depends on what you mean by is, it depends on what is, is”…

Stacy   February 27th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Erica, to answer your question, I have to agree with the candidate on the issues. Endorsements mean nothing to me. Just today I was reminded that Oprah had endorsed Obama. I had completely forgotten and couldn’t care less.

anderson cooper   February 27th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Yen Li - blogging all the way in Malaysia.. cool.. welcome to the conversation. Thanks for watching.. I traveled throughout Malaysia for a month or so after college. It’s a beautiful country.

Bonarez   February 27th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

About Clemens - am awaiting an apologyl This is how it works, you take the steroids, deny ever taking them, deny again, deny any chance you get to the mic, then finally apoologize to your fans and family and anyone one you ever disappointed…right Marion Jones?

Kellie   February 27th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

I’m hope they decide to take a closer look at Roger Clemens. He’s just as bad as Barry Bonds and all the others, I don’t get what he thinks sets him apart?

Priya   February 27th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

I think Bill Clinton needs to take a step back and let Hillary shine. Perform the role of a supportive spouse - underlining the word supportive. Support is always behing the leader.

I can say this from personal experience. I have an extremely supportive husband and have achieved so much just because, he stays in the background when it is my moment. Same as I do for him.

Emty, California   February 27th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Wow. It’s Pick on Anderson Day!

LaKeisha Chestnut   February 27th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

I’m a pledged delegate from the State of Alabama for Obama. Though my decision on who I was going to support was hard, in fact, I had planned on staying out of voting in this election, but I looked at all my options, and I was happy with who I chose. Now, I know many people are just now getting to know Obama, I had the pleasure of hearing him for the first time at a Town Hall meeting in Eatonville, FL with Sen. Bill Nelson. This was my introduction to him. Though he had been in the national spotlight since 2004. Some people think he’s not ready, but I’m ready for change. I’m a single mom with 3 beautiful daughters, and I think it’s time that my government worked for me.

Freddy, bklyn   February 27th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Hello Anderson,
I’ve been watching the election coverage and it’s truely sad. I think CNN is for Obama what FOX News was for Bush during the last 2 campaigns. This is truely sad! When I saw the last debate..on another channel I listened to more criticism about Hillary then the length of the debate itself. Hillary doesn’t have a change, she’s dealing with African American’s turning on her…despite all that she’s done for them and other minorities…such as hispanics. She has to struggle against the media…which includes CNN and MSNBC….. This time around the “Fair and Balanced” news is actually and sadly coming from FOX!

Elisa   February 27th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

anderson just loves that picture of you erica? lol
i think he’s jelous he can’t pull it off.

skm   February 27th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

What’s in a name? A whole LOT if you dont want people to use it.
By the way, why does Barack not want people to use/ know that he has a muslim middlename?

By the way, my kid (10-yr old) daughter has a muslim-sounding lastname; she gets routinely checked at the airport, while I dont. So, dont tell me that names dont matter. That’s within this country!

Of course, as you go outside the country, a name matters a lot. Name is one of the filters. You are in the communication business, and I think you know what a filter is.

Sarah Bradley   February 27th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Someone had to have told him to chill out!! and I am glad he did!!

Ed Carroll   February 27th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

The defining moment of Tuesday’s Democractic debate came early when Sen. Hillary Clinton began to rant about being asked the first question at the debates and then sarcastically asked if Sen. Obama should be offered a pillow for his chair, mimicking the Saturday Night Live episode. I couldn’t help but to think how more dignified past candidates like Reagan, Bush 41, Dole, Gore and Kerry would never stoop to that. The pressure is mounting on Sen. Clinton and we’re seeing how she handles it…..not very well.

Kevin,FL   February 27th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Leave Bill Clinton Alone. He’s a Very Smart Man.

Nora   February 27th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Anderson (or someone), please tell me what the song is when you return from the break.

Yen Li, Malaysia   February 27th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

oh no, CNN international is interupting your program with breaking news - PM Thaksin of Thailand is returning to faces charges……
I am on leave today and I want AC360 back! I hardly have this kind of chances to watch AC live……

Sara, Oklahoma   February 27th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

Anderson, where have you NOT been? Haha.

Casey   February 27th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

Oh Bubba, he made some mistakes with Hillary’s campaign, but ya gotta love him anyway!

Jason   February 27th, 2008 10:30 pm ET

So sad…down in S.E. Asia, 360 is only for an hour…not the 2 hours in the states

skm   February 27th, 2008 10:30 pm ET

oh, you mean you didnt get any new quote from Bill Clinton, so you are still using the old quotes?

Jo Ann, Ohio   February 27th, 2008 10:30 pm ET

@Teresa; Hello fellow Ohioan! I don’t know that it has been all that clean considering all the accusations and innuendos that have been thrown around not only on the campaign trail, but during the debates. I haven’t seen a primary election this contentious since W was spreading lies about McCain! The media hasn’t helped either. Their angry attitude towards Hillary Clinton has made it difficult for voters to focus in on what is really important.

Maureen T   February 27th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

I have a lot of respect for Bill Clinton but I believe he should stay in the background and let Hilary make her way on her own, if one could say she’s on her own. I mean they were both in the White House, weren’t they?

Stacy Australia   February 27th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

So glad that they air your show here in Sydney - gotta have my fix!!

Kevin N.   February 27th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

the thing i can’t understand about the whole steroids in sports thing is why is our congress worrying about this when there is so much more wrong that they need to tackle…why are they spending tax dollars on that and not other problems?

Jim Chase   February 27th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

Roger must be prosecuted. We can not let our children think it is OK to lie to congress. Kids pay close attention to sports. We live in New England; our kids thought the Pats were a sure thing for the Super Bowl. When the Pats lost I thought the kids needed therapy. I was glad they learned the lesson that no outcome is set in stone. It is even more important that they learn no one is above the law.

Vincent   February 27th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

Im not sure how well known Cunningham was by the main stream public, but hes certainly getting some fame now from all the stories about his comments being run on every major news network.

Cunningham clearly made the comments to provide innuendos about Obama being Muslim. Im glad McCain slapped him down as soon as he found out what happened…. it shows he has class, and priciples which he wont compromise.

jacques Casimir   February 27th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Anderson wouldn’t it makes sense as shark populations decline only the most agrresive will survive, thus increasing attacks on people.

we are reaping more of what we have sown

Abby   February 27th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Anderson, you may can find out if this is true or not, but I heard that Clemens requested to testify before Congress. If that’s true his lawyer should be disbarred. Shouldn’t Congress have more important things to do?

Jim   February 27th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Anderson,
What do you think the chances are of McCain and Huckabee having a Lincoln-Douglas style debate before Tuesday?

Lynn   February 27th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Jim, I agree. None of them are talking about our economic situation. I believe they truly dont know what to do about it. We all know keeping our troops in IRAQ is not goin gto help the situation. So what is left?

Ursula (Peru)   February 27th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Anderson, any chance CNN International could show the full 2 hours of your program? We only get to see the 1st hour in Peru

Delia, Indiana   February 27th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Hey Jo Ann, What is really important? Very curious.

James in Canada   February 27th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Watched the whole Clemens hearing live on CNN. I have never seen a more obvious liar in my life. Even if Clemens hadn’t been so transparent, I’d be willing to bet on the guy who’s actually honest about himself.

mary   February 27th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

mccain is being a big baby saying sorry for saying obama’s middle name, the press is making a big deal because they have to baby obama. He better get with the real world because if this hurts hes not ready to be president, hillary is the only one ready for what our world is going to endure.

Kevin,FL   February 27th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

Jason the 2nd Hours is a Repeat of the 1st Hour so you’re not missing anything..

Eric   February 27th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

Ed - i agree. Hillary’s complaining is an indication of her ability to cope.

The lumps she’s taking now are a walk in the park compared to what a Pres. has to deal with.

rebecca h   February 27th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

the flaw in the clinton campaign is that both clintons failed to find their voices. too bad the former president spoke out too soon and the senator teared up too late. whining about the press won’t fix the hole the clintons dug themselves into– hillary should start focusing on herself, not on obama and not on the press!

Priya   February 27th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

Namaste to you too Ann. Like you I admire McCain’s strength of charecter to stand up to him.

Alys   February 27th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

I want to see that picture of Erica again! you work that mullet! :o)

Dusten, SC   February 27th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

Hi Erica and Anderson and the production crew at 360,
It is really sad that people such as Rush Limbaugh are encouraging the young conservatives of American to skip out on Election Day simply because they did not get the candidate that they wanted. I sure am glad that I have a mind of my own and will still vote. Keep up the good work 360 and please do not start a daily Britney segment like other news channels, unless it is something really shocking but I really cannot think of what that might be.

Jennifer, Washington DC   February 27th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

Anderson and Erica, I’m beginning to appreciate how hard it is for you to blog, I’m at work myself and trying to watch and blog at the same time… a bit of a juggling act.

EJ - Ohio   February 27th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

Isn’t the 2nd hour of AC usually mostly a rerun from the 1st hour? Unless there is some special

Sarah, Atlanta, GA   February 27th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

Who cares if Roger Clemens used performance enhanhcing drugs??? I mean really, dosen’t congress have more pressing issues to deal with???

Kevin,FL   February 27th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

Just Give Clemens a Lie Detector Test and end all this Crap! they are just wasting our money.

Elisa   February 27th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

On the topic of endorsements, i really don’t think people should vote for a candidate b/c oprah or any other celebrity said too.
they are just people, their opinions aren’t any more valid than the people who live in your neighborhood. they just have better PR people

Holleyanne, Oakland, CA   February 27th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

Roger Clemens is a liar and a cheater just like all the other steriod users in MLB. Come on guys, fess up and take your medicine like big boys.

John Cooper   February 27th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

I agree that Bill Clinton should go back to bringing out the differences in Hillary and Obama.

Lostfigs   February 27th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

Vincent, what about Limbaugh? Man, this guy sounds like some sort of hate-spewing swampthing! I’d hope someone disinfects that mic every night.

Janet   February 27th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

ERICA HILL - re your blog to Shauna - an endorsement, no matter who the individual is, does not persuade my vote. I am voting on the principles and the candidates positoin on issues, and most heavily…their experience and what they have accomplished. I respect that Lewis switched to Obama because that is what his constituants wanted; but then, how about Kennedy and Kerry, should they switch because MA went for Clinton? Janet from LV, NV

Lorie Ann   February 27th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

The steroid scandal is important. But Congress has so much more to occupy their valuable time with. Move on please.

Lorie Ann, Buellton, Calif.

Michele, Douglaston NY   February 27th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

I am having a problem here since last night. As you know, I enjoy the
live blogging, but my computer is in my other room and the TV is in
living room. There is no way that I can run back and forth catching
up the live blogging. I watch the clock tickin’ until too late. You
may think it’s funny. Oh well….I’ll do my best.

Marta K-Florida   February 27th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

Clemens, Schlemens….who cares? And I’ve seen “Sports Moms & Dads” that were just as bad if not worse than a lot of these athletes that get in trouble for one thing or another….bit of the pot calling the kettle black with their cries for his prosecution.

Lilibeth   February 27th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

Wow, we have bloggers from Malaysia, Australia, Peru, and Canada tonight!

Anderson, you must be proud that you have such an international following! And we’re all blogging at the same time, all over the world! Good for you!

Delia, Indiana   February 27th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

rebecca how can Hillary focus on herself when every one is focusing on a candidate who’s wife isn’t even proud of America?

James in Canada   February 27th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

If Clemens had simply apologized, and admitted his mistakes, this would all have gone away. It’s really very sad.

Kathy, Andover   February 27th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

Hey Erica, You need to get a clip from the stupid Mole show, with Anderson in it — to put your haircut photo away for good!

Casey   February 27th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

Re: Clemens - who cares? I know steroid use shouldn’t be taking place, but why should congress get involved?

Lynn   February 27th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

Mary, i disagree. Hillary is feeding you what you want to hear. She will not be a good chief in commander for the people and foreign affairs. I truly beleive, Obama will be the strongest in all three sectors, Finance, Foreign and Healthcare.

Sarah Bradley   February 27th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

the hole clemmons thing bores me I find it along the lines of britaney spears…

Jason   February 27th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

I’m just curious: why is an athlete in front of a congressional hearing on taking drugs?

Perro, Costa Rica   February 27th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

have we been through this before…back in the day it was allowed and even wanted by management…..give it a rest……its ruining the image of the sport…..LOL if that’s possible

Kevin N.   February 27th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

Elisa….do you feel the same way about the super delegates? They are just people who’s opinions shouldn’t matter any more, but apparently they do…about 5 times more!

Maureen T   February 27th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

When will Roger Clemens realize that the truth will set him free? I mean seriously…

Scott, Kzoo MI   February 27th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

Hi Erica & Anderson!

Erica, cute pic of you as a kid! Loved the hair….like totally! Oh, smart move getting of Georgia b4 the water wars start. You’ll be safer and less thirsty up north but think of MI next time we’ve got lots of water!

Andeson…enough of the steroids in baseball already. Congress has way more important business to attend to (lest we forget Iraq! New Orleans! Economy! etc) and so should you guys! Leave the sports to ESPN. Is CNN short on cash? Time for you to get out of the studio and on location again!

You guys do great work so keep it up!

Thanks!

Brian Ft. Lauderdale, FL   February 27th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

Clemens is a liar. But Congress is outside the lines on this one and wasting our time, money, and attention to serious issues.

Why not the NFL? Remember Alzado? The Raiders? North Dallas Forty? Come to think of it, Congress could use some HGH to strengthen their minds.

Stacy   February 27th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

Sarah, Congress is dealing with bigger things than steroids, but for some reason the media is fascinated with this. We haven’t gotten any coverage of the FISA fight, which is a much bigger deal. I’m not saying Congress is great, but they’re not just dealing with steroids all day.

Janet   February 27th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

I second Sarah from Atlanta!! Who cares if they used these enhancing drugs, let the industry the athlete is in deal with it. Just like Tour de France, they have their own people that look into and take care of athletes that use drugs. I can’t believe we’re going to send someone fto prison for committing purgery about using performance enhancing drugs in baseball, but we’ll let a child molester get off on a plea deal.

Johna W   February 27th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

I’m having a difficult time understanding why the government has gotten so deeply tied up in the Clemens case!! Seems like a great waste of time and money…

Eric   February 27th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

Does anyone really think Mrs. Obama isn’t proud of her country? Really? One clumsy moment.

Shawn, Pa   February 27th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

Just my opinion - but if you’re dumb enough to swim with sharks, dont be surprised when you get chomped upon!

Elisa   February 27th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

i’m surprise reality television hasn’t taken advantage of the steriod issue and done the case “the moment of truth style”
i think they are both lying

JJR   February 27th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

Come on Anderson, You guys on CNN have picked to death everything Bill Clinton has said pertaining to his wife’s campaign!! He was a great President and I don’t believe his comments have had anything to do with his own legacy. He believes in Hillary’s ability to lead this country in the right direction. He surely did. I believe Hillary is the only one to do it, and yeah experience does count. So do all of her wonderful accomplishment’s of the past 35yrs.

Ms. E   February 27th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

Bill loves his wife, right? Also he will be a good stay at home husband, in the white house. How lovely is that? She best drop that weight she has gained in her bottom if she wins the race cause Billy will be, more faithful as ever.

Jo Ann, Ohio   February 27th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

Let me get this straight everybody lied, but Roger. What would Andy Pettitte have to gain by lying? Clemens is a steroid user ( you can tell by the lack of definition in his muscle tone) and he is a liar. Not only that he approaches the nanny before giving her name to the government. What a role model for the kiddies!

Heidi B   February 27th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

that movie jaws trauma tized me

Clinton Supporter   February 27th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

We love Bill Clinton in East Texas. Thousands came to hear him in the small town of Nacogdoches Feb 15, there was standing room only, they did a video feed to another room, and many were turned away. The crowd loved him. The media can say whatever they want and they control the news reports, but President Clinton secured enthusiastic support for Hillary in conservative red state Texas and we’ll give her our votes.
You’ve NEVER ONCE heard anyone complain that the media is biased against Barack or Michelle Obama. Wonder why?

Claire in Birmingham, AL   February 27th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

Again, it goes back to this…why would McNamee be truthful about all the other players he named, but LIE about Clemens?

Vincent   February 27th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

The guy with the sharks …. was he in a cage ? Swimming around with a bunch of hungry sharks in a feeding frenzy seems like a good way to win a ‘Darwin award’ :S

Joe Tex   February 27th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

Roger Clemens knows he did steroids and should have told the truth from the beginning, now they will get him for perjury……

Mel   February 27th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

I agree Congress has no business investigating this when this morning’s headline was the possibility of $4/gallon gas.

Mitch, Los Angeles   February 27th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

Brian, you are 100% right..the fact that nobody talks about the NFL and HGH is laughable. It is basically where steroids was in 95′ (everywhere without being tested).

Paul, FL   February 27th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

evening Anderson and Erica,
As a long time republican, I am sad to say I cannot support my party this time around, I believe Mcain cannot be trusted, he is not a change agent, he is “the same old thing” that is wrong with our government, I believe he sold his soul(campaign) to the devil(lobbists) back in the fall of 07, how else can you explain his comeback. And he says he will do what “HE” thinks is right despite what others(american people) want him to do or say. He is not the republican my granfather told me to believe in.
