At 360° we like to try new things.

You may have read Anderson’s note today about blogging during the show.  I’ll be moderating the comments, posting as many as possible, and getting Anderson’s comments up there too.

Tonight we’ll start 360° with the story that’s been dominating the news: Election 2008. We’ll also get the latest on the tornadoes in Tennessee and Arkansas. And there’s time for the Britney Spears saga too.

Hope you watch, and join in the discussion.  We start at 10p ET.

We’re watching. Good luck!

Ingrid   February 6th, 2008 9:57 pm ET

It seems that ever since Iowa, CNN has been buzzing around Obama much more as a celebrity than as a candidate, but in a way that makes him a trend and attracts more attention detracting from Senator Clinton and other candidates. I support Obama and Clinton alike, but the clear Obama emphasis on CNN is frustrating.
I have always been so impressed by CNN that they typically play the devil’s advocate, and seem fairly neutral.
Is this something that CNN is aware of or have had many comments regarding this?
My suggestion would be to get a little bit more professional again and back off of the “hype” that surrounds Senator Obama.

Michelle Fischer- Lafayette IN   February 6th, 2008 9:59 pm ET

Anderson,
I am soooo excited!! Have a GREAT show!!

Love that magic wall that john King works oh so well

Anderson,
Live blogging?? Oh, I don’t have a good feeling about this Anderson. Your server’s going to crash! (but good luck keeping up with everything)!

John King does a great job explaining things with the map. It’s good to SEE it rather just hear it explained.

Patrick   February 6th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

Anderson,
Good luck I think you are going to need it, but we all know you can pull it off!

Whitney   February 6th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

Based on the exit polls, an extremely high percentage of Black voters cast their ballot for Senator Obama. Remembering the past Clinton consistancy of support to the African American community, why does it appear that instead of voting on the issues, Blacks are simply voting for Sen. Obama because he is black? Isn’t voting for a candidate because of his race just as prejudice as not voting for him because of his race?

Vikki   February 6th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

Honestly, Ingrid, I think you’re reading an Obama bias into it. My mother, who is an Obama supporter (I’m voting for Clinton) feels that Clinton’s been getting far more attention. Also keep in mind that the public has been aware of Hillary on a national level for 16 years now. Obama really has popped into the mainstream only recently, and is far less known.

But how long did we dwell on Clinton getting slightly choked up? What is the Obama equivelant? There really doesn’t seem to be one. The man speaks well - sure. He has nothing to say, but he sounds great. So if they dwell more on his speeches, it’s understandable. He’s charming. I just don’t think he knows what he’s doing.

Anne   February 6th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

Hi Anderson,
this live blog idea sounds interesting-can’t wait to see how it goes!

Anne

Claire   February 6th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

I know the Republican’s were in a “winner take all” scenario when it came to the primaries yesterday, but the Democrats were using a proportional system. Now, with California, how were the proportions separated between Clinton and Obama?

Pati McMillan   February 6th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Heh heh. I love John and his magic sceen. He totally rocks that thing!

cheryl   February 6th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Why didn’t John MCain show up to vote in the senate today? Isn’t that his job? Isn’t that what he’s getting paid for? I guess he doesn’t think it’s important enough.

Jo Ann   February 6th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Anderson,

Good luck with the blog experiment!

Based on how divisive these primary elections have been I would like to know how the candidates will go about unifying this county again, it seems like we are more divided than ever before.

Good luck! But Britney? Why? I know, I know there’s a fascination. It doesn’t make it right though.

This is great! First time for me. Good luck, Anderson!

the dead heat is a little disappointing…though it’s exciting to see all of america really get a chance…i want obama to be the clear candidate already…

Courtney   February 6th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Stacy - i agree with you.. CNN - most trusted and respected name in news. take the lead in this and show all the others what its like to take the high road!

Sarah Bradley   February 6th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

Ingrid,
I think CNN is doing a fine job featuring both canidates I dont think there is a bias….but they are going to point out that he has done well,,,,,as has Clinton

Kayle   February 6th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

I’m confused did anyone ever actually win New Mexico?
If they ever declare that Obama wins then he will officially wins Super Tuesday.

Anthony   February 6th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Hey Anderson, How you been? Can you go over what a super delegate is.

Brian B   February 6th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Sometime, I would love to see someone talk about the youth vote on Super Tuesday. There’s been such a discussion about young voters, but in all the subset demographics, I dont see discussion on youth. Did they come out to vote after all that talk? I’m 25 and this was the first primary I’ve ever been motivated to vote in. I hope the rest of my generation makes a statement!

Love the blog - good luck blogging during the show!

Jamie   February 6th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Last nights coverage of Super Tuesday was crazy! I can’t imagine how you guys were keeping up with everything! The results were interesting. As someone from Pennsylvania I’m excited about the prospect of actually being able to vote in a primary that is going to make a difference in deciding the nominee. I have a feeling this will continue through to the convention, it should be an interesting few months.

I have to say that the new technology you guys have been using is fun to watch, and it seems like John, Gary and Jeffery have really gotten the hang of that cool new screen!

Mark dechief   February 6th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Anderson:

Is it surprising that a young girl with lots of money, a dysfunctional family and untrustworthy associates is in trouble? How many times have we seen this scenario?

As long as we continue to exploit vulnerable young people for our entertainment, they will continue to be troubled.

Mark

Whitney   February 6th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

To Ingrid…I have to disagree. Of all the stations covering Election 2008, CNN has been the most inbiased and given as equal amount of coverage as possible to both candidates. Everyone is aware Sen. Obama speaks well, however, his naitivity to Washington politics and Foreign Policy concern me if he is receives the Democratic nomination.

Angela   February 6th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

I think John King’s magic wall is awesome!!! He kinda scared me when he said we might not know until may that who is ahead in this race?! He better cancel all his vacation plans and stay here.

Brit   February 6th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

Romney’s investment did not profit him, while would Clinton’s?

Joely Balazs   February 6th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

I always find myself questioning how well a candidate can run the economy of a country if they can’t manage the finances of their own campaign?

Granted, there are times when you can boost ROI by taking on some debt. But if you are doing it at the expense of your employees, then maybe the idea you so desparately want to finance needs to be seriously re-evaluated.

If anything, this type of money mismanagement speaks volumes with respect to the “experience” argument…

Oh, and by the way, Obama has exceeded the $5 million in 24 hours goal.

cnn   February 6th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

From Anderson:
Hey folks, im on the blog tonite.. trying to read your comments during commercial breaks.. and I will respond when I can..

Mark   February 6th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

This is another example of CNN being innovative and trying to get the viewers more involved with the stories you report on. I hope this will be successful and I wish you all the best!

Anon   February 6th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Anderson, can you ask your political analysts’ to please explain the difference between delegates, super delegates and pledged delegates? Can super delegates won by a candidate actually pledge to another candidate?

Marcus Harun, Hamden, CT   February 6th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Hey Mr. Cooper,
This is so exciting. It really seems like we get to talk back to you. and doing the live blogging will really get people (like me) involved. Show is going great so far!

ryan   February 6th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

everyone says they are voting on the issues and not because of gender or race.

if barack and hillary were both white males, who do you think would be winning?

BobSte   February 6th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

When I think about Obama raising a few million dollars online since last night, I can’t help but focus on the fact that this money comes from so many people giving small donations. No PAC money, no big corporations. It’s quite a wave.

Rafael from Brazil   February 6th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

Anderson, i’ve been a fan for quite some time. Congrats for the coverage on super tuesday. I believe that Obama has the momentum and will win the nomination. Brazil is watching and most of the people I’ve talked to prefer Obama, for his foreign policies.
Cheers
Rafael

Pati McMillan   February 6th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

So now we are going to go back and forth with the Dem’s fighting over whom is the underdog? Oh good Lord. Seriously?

laura   February 6th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

really - do we really need to hear more about Britney Spears???

T   February 6th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

why is John always saying ‘Senator Clinton’ and ‘Barack Obama’? He’s also a Senator!

Subhash   February 6th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

Good luck Anderson with the blog experiment! CNN has been very fair with every candidate for the primary.

Frank Biosah   February 6th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

The Clinton And Obama campaign are spending way too much money. I think the democratic establishment should just back the best person to beat the republicans in November. ” When 2 elephants fight - it is the grass that suffers”

Sarah Bradley   February 6th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

Hey anderson with the races sooooo close is there a more likely possibility of a “dream ticket” now?

Carey Kann   February 6th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

Its clearly too close to call right now, why so much attention as to who the front runner is?

MEHUL   February 6th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

I agree with Ingrid and vikki

todd   February 6th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

2 easy questions:

2. Who won American Samoa???

Molly, Sag Harbor, NY   February 6th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Mark Mastroianni   February 6th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

According to the email I have from Barack, he’s raised $5,389,555 now at 10:15pm. It was $4M about 2 hours ago.

That’s about $700K/hr.

Good deal, Barrie.

I tried to make a donation at Hillary’s website today and got a message that the website was too busy and to try again later. I did. But things must be picking up for her.

Sarah Bradley   February 6th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Ryan, THere is no doubt the race and gender are a major player in the race..

Valerie, Ottawa Canada   February 6th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Hi Anderson,

Can you explain what the difference is between a caucus and a primary? Why does Senator Obama seem to do better than Senator Clinton in the caucuses?

- Valerie, Ottawa, Canada

Bev   February 6th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

This sounds like fun. No using spell-check Anderson, not enough time. lol

Cindy   February 6th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

Anderson,
OK…what happened to the Heath Ledger story!? I was looking forward to hearing from Dr. Drew! I am SO disappointed!! LOL

I think all of this election stuff started WAY too soon! I am really getting OD’d on all of this coverage! Please give us a break from it when you can!! PLEASE!!

I think McCain is being unfairly painted as someone that can’t get the conservative vote. He really isn’t that far off from the mark! I think in the end that all of the Reps will come together and vote for him rather conservative or not!

Can you please get some straight answers from Obama about how he actually plans to do this change he talks about. I hear him harping on it but he never goes into detail as to what he plans to do!

Good luck with your live blogging! I bet this won’t last too long! LOL I can see you now typing your little butt off during the commercials trying to get out responses! LOL

Cynthia, Covington, Ga.

Vikki   February 6th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

I agree, Pati - in reality, this whole “Hillary writing herself a check” thing sounds like it’s within the same vein. Making herself the underdog. That’s not a slam to Hillary, I just think that they’re both desperate to be the one to root for right now. It is *very* nice to see that the two are remaining cordial, however. The last thing we need is the Democrats turning on one-another when they need to focus on removing the Republicans completely from office before we go back any further in time. I’m tired of living in the 80s as it is.

Mark   February 6th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

At this point I am waiting to hear if there will be a sudden ’surprise’ that would erupt with either candidate, plus there is Bloomberg and the potential ‘Perot effect’ on this election.

Pati McMillan   February 6th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

Hey Anderson. Is that CNN mug topped up with TheraFlu. Take care! Don’t know how you are doing this, let alone with a cold. Do you need some Vick’s Vapo-rub?

Jen   February 6th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

i think barack obama is raising money because he’s getting people to believe…more and more people are coming over. while clinton is being forced to throw her money behind herself because she’s not inspiring anyone at all…and all of us ‘generation O’ers are loving it…:)

Marcy   February 6th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

Hey Anderson where is Erica? When is she going to be on 360 for more than a news break??

Marcy Mobile,AL

Ty   February 6th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Hey Ryan, if you believe it’s race/gender then how do we explain Idaho, Iowa, Montana, etc. There’s less than 10% blacks there lol

Debbie, Denham Springs, LA   February 6th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

I hope this doesn’t come down to the super delegates voting. That would almost rank up there with Al Gore winning the popular vote but losing the electoral vote.

Jo Ann   February 6th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Anderson,

It looks like it is going pretty well so far, but don’t be surprised if CNN loses all power halfway through the program. I think I could get to like this!

Jo Ann

JAMOL   February 6th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Well Anderson I dont understand why everyone is hating on Hillary Clinton. Does this country want another president to lead our country the wrong way? Mrs. Clinton is the choice here. More experience & will be ready on day one. I think when Hillary before comes President she should have Colin Powell as Vice President….. That would make our country VERY, VERY, STRONG

James   February 6th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Hey Anderson,

woah! managed to just get into the site…. thought it would crash… great idea with this live blog!

anyway, great political coverage as always from cnn, good to hear from all the different guests and you moderating the different perspectives.

i really wonder about the intention of featuring britney spears? is there a social message you wish to convey to viewers, since, in a way, she is quite a celebrity (albeit a fallen one now)….

philip   February 6th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

The most important question is how can you blog at the same time doing a live show?

Holly   February 6th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

I’m interested in the money raising game. How can Hillary Clinton, with all of their contacts be running out of money. Obama is a money raising machine and she can never compete with him there, but it’s interesting that Hillary, Bill and their contacts aren’t attracting the donors.

Dino Furgiule   February 6th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Cool bloogiing live…always like something new
John King and the board makes things clear and he uses it like a pro
Brittney Spears…we watch for the same reason we will look at an accident scene on the highway….when I was young we told to say a prayer for the poor souls and do the sign of the cross….now we look, stare, cam it with our cell phone and then judge…..progress

Ryan Mullins   February 6th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Anderson, hope that you are feeling better. I want to thank you for all the hard work that you do and you continue to do. You are the voice of the world.
I think YOU should be the US president. We wouldn’t have to worry about “keeping them honest.” We would have you!!
You have showed your dedication to covering so many stories and never seem to forget the many issues that most people never even think to remember.
You redefine what Hard work really means and you work tirelessly to have your viewers know what is going on in the world. I have never been as interested in the news of the world until you came along. My hat go off to you!!

Sarah Bradley   February 6th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

as far as money since Clinton didnt have as much money wasnt she going to be doing more debates? On the daily show a rep from fox said that she actually agreed to do a debate on there is that going to be a trend for more debates

Angela   February 6th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Is this blogging thing supposed to lower the arousal rate Anderson?

Ken Payne   February 6th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Does she want the debates because she’s out of money?

Megan O. Toronto, ON, Canada   February 6th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Anderson you are quiet the multitasker!!!

Sharon Wright   February 6th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Live blogging…this Canadian is hooked! The Clinton/Obama item has most Canadians rivetted….never seen this much enthusiasm for US politics and Obama seems to be the favorite to win! Why invent the Clinton era? Been there done that.

Melinda   February 6th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

The longer it goes the more Obama benefits, I believe. He’s riding a wave right now, picking up people slowly but surely.

Sarah, Atlanta, GA   February 6th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Anderson, weren’t we suppsoed to have Dr.Drew on the program tonight??? I was looking forward to him being on.

Prashanth   February 6th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

I would like to comment on Ingrids comments above about CNN’s attention to off lately Obama, on the contrary me and my wife felt Hillary was getting much more attention by CNN like the case of New Hampshire. Part of the reason why Hillary even won NH looks like was all due to the tearing up publicity she got.

Off lately my wife and I watch CNN a lot, you folks do a fantastic job but I do have to say that me and wife both felt that Hillary was getting undue attention as compared to Obama.

Please stay Neutral.

Thanks,
Prashanth

Mary H. St. Louis, MO   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

You are taking multitasking to the max… And trying something new the day after Super Tuesday. I’m still bleary eyed from watching the 40 hours of coverage. Ok, I will admit I didn’t watch it all. Great job in analyzing the races from all the various states. Good luck with Live on-line blogging.

Jana   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

So what has happened to Erica?

Pati McMillan   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Oh yikes? More Britney? Poor Anderson! Oh well, people want to know. I hear ya. Keep the faith. It HAS to end eventually, right? Please say yes!

Julie Aberdeen, NC   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

You gotta love a good political telestrater. John does such a good job explaining things on his big map - he’s my favorite of your team - everyone does a great job - but he’s the best! The coverage has been crazy good and I’m excited to see how the election process will continue. Good luck with the blogging live…

Marcia   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Favoring Britney over Heath give me a break. Why give someone airtime who doesn’t care about anyone but herself. As was stated on LKL the story of Heath Ledger could help someone else.

Mark   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Megan, Anderson can do just about anything…his book made me a believer on that!

Connie   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Good luck with the blogging, Anderson. Here’s to multitasking!

cindy   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

I love cnn and we watch all day since we work at home. I have to agree that obama is getting much more attention than hillary………..i like them both but it is very obvious. Also, cnn should be above all this britanny spears stuff……….enough!

M Hines   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Honestly, the Spears story is a sad one, but is it really all that newsworthy?

Courtney   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

J.D.   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

how much sleep did you get last night?

Gerri   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Hi all,

I don’t know folks. I think that Senator Clinton wants all of those extra debates because that gives her free mediatime. Something a campaign that is shorter on money……Good strategy under the circumstances I think

Jason, Atlanta, GA   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Hi Anderson,
How does something like this happen? Clinton campaign with no money??? This is negative news, and this can’t help. What happen to all the money?

Susan Abbott   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Hey, how come you did not allow the advice to John King about caffeine. I was serious!

S

Rich   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

I suspect that Obama doesn’t have 5 million of his own money, contrasted to people giving contributions to him. Is she “of the people” with that kind of money?

Tiara   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

A caucus is when the candidates debate before people actually vote. A primary is basically when people go and vote without any interaction with the candidates.

hope that helps….

Angad   February 6th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Anderson - love the program, but you have to leave Britney out of the news

Tracy   February 6th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Hillary wants a debate because it’s the only way the media wil give her any face time. Obama has a choke hold on all media except FOX news.

Michelle Fischer- Lafayette IN   February 6th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

It is soooo sad about Britney Spears!!! I wish she would just see that she needs help, and get it!!! Sooo sad, I don’t know what else to see about it!!!

Anderson Cooper   February 6th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Hey folks, im on the blog tonite.. trying to read your comments during commercial breaks.. and I will respond when I can..

Claire   February 6th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Gabrielle….look up. It’s under the name “cnn”

Jessica, Bourbonnais Illinois   February 6th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Anderson, I think this live blog is a fantastic idea. It makes your viewers feel like they have an “in” an a voice when it comes to what is going on. Another blogger said it best….”CNN is trying to be innovative”, and may I just say that you are succeeding, as always. Listening to the discussion concerning Dueling for Delegates is interesting because David Gergen said that this battle could last well beyond April. I think that the American people are apt to get tired of this battle for delegates. It will be interesting to see if this battle hurts the Democratic Party in the November election.

Frank Biosah   February 6th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

I am an Obama supporter but I also think that the Clintons are an asset to the democratic party. I am hoping and praying that this long fight does not cause too much division in the party. Remember, the goal is to kick the republicans out of the white house!

Maureen   February 6th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Anderson,

Sounds like you are fighting a cold. Try that old fashioned remedy of honey and lemon! That works for me!:)

Mike   February 6th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

i wish the media would stop with britney

larbi   February 6th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

By the way I agree with Marcy. Erica is good, funny and should have more time on 360. It will help the show even more!!

Courtney   February 6th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Leave britney spears alone. Anderson take the lead!!! Its hard to believe but we will all love you even more for it!

Jonas   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Anderson, great idea. And please thank John King on my behalf for his wonderful work with that map. Makes it really easy and interesting to understand.

Oh yes, one thing: What’s the deal with New Mexico? The results have stopped updating on the CNN site at 98% reporting. Please let us know what’s going on. Thanks much!

Adam Bush   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Anderson, can you really anchor and blog at the same time?! I love it!!! Good luck.

serena miller   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

hi anderson, great job! love john king’s work as well…your coverage
of super tuesday was outstanding… this race is a hard one to predict….
i’ll keep watching you guys

Cindy   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

So Coop…are you blogging and typing on that BlackBerry too!!? I know you can’t get off of that thing! LOL

Cynthia, Covington, Ga.

michael berman   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Joe Klein says that Senator Clinton favors more debates because she is stronger than Senator Obama in that type of forum. That may be true, but Mr. Klein failed to mention that if Clinton does in fact have funding issues, debates would be the way for her to get exposure without spending a dime.

Brenda In Ohio   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

What will it take for Mitt Romney to win! I am an independent and am so tired of hearing all of the same old stuff, we need a change for sure but we also need someone who can tell us what he or she will do to make the changes. Mitt Romney is the only one not connected to Washington (except Huckaby lol). If McCaine is the republican nominee I will not vote at all because Obama and Clinton are just too liberal.

Felisa   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

How many cards is Hillary camp going to pull? First the race card, then the damsel in distress, now poor little rich girl. How many ways is she actually going to try to fool the public. Can’t people see through this type of trickery? A five million dollar check? She really relates to me (not) I’m having trouble writing a check for $500.

Sarah   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

I second Jana. Seriously, when are we getting Erica full time?

Terri - Winnipeg   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Why …really…why don’t people leave Britney alone? It seems she would be better off without attention…so she can get down to who she really is, I doubt she knows who she is with all the glitz and glam of her life. Sad really.

Anderson Cooper   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Hey Bradley, joe klein says, absolutely a super delegate can pledge to another candidate…

Sorry I didn’t get your note till we were off air already.

Cleve   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

The Clinton’s didn’t count on such a tough race. Someone must have told Hilliary that she was destined to be the Dem nominee…from the start, she has acted as if this primary thing was just a formality.

Someone should’ve briefed Obama.

Michelle Kucuk   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Marcy, I totally agree. I love Erica and miss her when she is not there. I think the chemistry between Anderson and Erica is great. I would love to see more of her.

Ian   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Well Connie, hopefully those prideful women realize that voting for a candidate should involve more than gender identification and pick who they think the best choice is.

Denise - Michigan   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

I’d like to hear more about the delegates also. I’ve heard that Michigan and Florida could come into play if the race is close in the end. Tell me this isn’t true. Not all of the candidates were on the ballot at least in Michigan - Obama wasn’t an option. I’m from Michigan and am very disappointed that our vote didn’t count but if Hillary ends up winning the nomination by counting Michigan and Florida then I would be very suspicious that this was a pre-planned stratagy. This CANNOT be allowed!

M Hines   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Cynthia, Covington, Ga is a plant for McCain!!!!

Sara   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

I can’t stand Britney. I don’t care what she is doing every second of her life. And if she really does have a mental condition, then she needs to stay in the hospital for more than a few days. I mean seriously. This is ridiculous.

Jan from Wood Dale, IL   February 6th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Anderson,
Just a suggestion, could you put your responses in color or a different font? Would make it easier to find.

Onlooker   February 6th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Anderson,

Hillary just lent $5million of her own money to her campaign..WOW !!
She’s got 5 million to spare ??
Makes you wonder how she claims to be in touch with the evreyday American struggles .

Americans …wake up PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!

Mark   February 6th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

That guy attacking the attorney has poor impulse control…but hasn’t anyone ever really felt like taking a slug at them sometimes??

Corey   February 6th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

erica is a little better

Becky   February 6th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

I’m glad to see all the interest in this year’s election. I’m a 52 yr old white woman and my mother is a 78 yr old white woman. Both of us proudly voted for Barack Obama yesterday in Alabama. I hope he will continue to gain momentum and be the Democratic candidate. We’ve had too many years of no one but Bushes and Clintons in the White House. I am anxious to look forward rather than choosing someone from the past.

FG   February 6th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Is it possible that Clinton’s “out of money story”, is yet another attempt/ploy for sympathy votes?

CT   February 6th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

I think Erica had a crush on Anderson… and he felt awkward having to socialize with her on air after he realized that, just like how he was disturbed at voters being aroused by him at the recent Republican debate.

Mike   February 6th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

The problem with Britney is that she is “supposedly” MENTALLY ILL and can’t see that she needs help. People need to quit being fascinated with her and let her be.

Pati McMillan   February 6th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

OUCH! I am in a courtroom on a regular basis. I may have to rethink my career. Thanks Anderson! You and Tom are great together. Oh, and trust me. I CAN defend myself. LOL

George, Chattanooga, TN   February 6th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

I never saw Clinton as a person short on cash but as an Obama supporter I have to say its music to my ears

John   February 6th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Why is the media not asking Obama direct questions about his plans - his strategies for solving America’s problems - specifics? It seems like the media is giving him a pass - maybe for fear of being called racist by giving the Black candidate too hard of a time? This is the presidency we’re talking about - doesn’t America deserve for the candidates to be FULLY vetted?
- Houston, Texas

Sonal   February 6th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

I don’t quite understand the lovefest media has with B. Obama? Obama camp complains that they feel they are up again 2 Clintons- Bill and Hilary. I feel that Hilary is up again many forces: a movement called Obama, the press corps, and the Republicans!

SS

Matt, NYC   February 6th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

I can’t belive that we might have to wait untill April to find out who the Dem Nominee

Edgar   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

I have been watching CNN very closely going up to Super Tuesday and I’ll keep watching until we have a new president in the White House come January 20th. This race is extremely interesting and I’m sure we’ll be going on with this until March.

I think more people will get to know Obama and that will help him whereas most people have their ideas about Clinton set in stone. I think it’s really interesting how Clinton brought so much of the Latino vote. There seems to be a disconnect between Latino voters and Obama. In large part, Clinton won California because of the overwhelming support of Latinos in that state.

With the Republicans, my bet is that although conservative Repulbicans don’t like him, if the GOP really wants to win the White House they have to go for McCain. He’s the only one who is respected by people across the aisle and who can reap the independent and even some Democratic voters. Whereas both Clinton and Obama would be formidable candidates this year because of the overall disdain for the last eight years of the Bush administration they will have an easier time. Because of that same reason, McCain is the GOP’s best bet. It will be interesting to see though who conservative Republicans will chose–Romney or Huckabee–even McCain.
Once again, the one who has attracted the most votes, ranging from Cuban Latinos in Florida and Mexican Latinos in California, was John McCain. His moderate views on immigration and his veteran status as a prisoner of war make him a very appealing candidate for Republican and moderate Latinos.

An interesting race for sure and although different, Obama, Romney and Huckabee would do well to attract the Latino vote.

Joely Balazs   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Ask Glenn Beck why he hung up on Huckabee today…

Marcus Harun, Hamden, CT   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Well Mr Cooper.
it looks like what you wanted to do worked….you have 72+ comments in the first 20 min.

Well they hype is up!!!
This is fun

Do you think yesterday Mardi Gras in New Orleans was forgotten about because of Super Tuesday. I would have love to see how the economy is doing there, have the tourist come back?

Megan O. Toronto, ON, Canada   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Ok what is there to really say about Heath Ledger…..man could not sleep and he took way to much medication that basically all did the same thing. A very sad story that can now be put to rest since we have answers…..what can Dr. Drew add to what was found and has not already been covered.

Not that covering Britney is any better

Laura   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Is everyone obligated to cover any news about Britney Spears now? I personally think that there are way more important things in the world to focus on!

Laura B, Hopewell, New Jersey

Kevin   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Obama = inspirational

Should we vote just on that…. I love Obama but wish he would stop making those amazing speeches about platitutes and generalities and bumper-sticker motto’s. Eventually the most inspiring speech gets boring and overplayed. Tell me how to attack poverty… tell me specifics. If he did that I’d support him hands down to Clinton (although I really like her positions on issues)

Vikki   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

They’re not exactly giving you a ton of commercial time to blog, AC.

John   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Hi Anderson,

It’s interesting that the republican candidates have been envoking Reagan and the Dems have been envoking Kennedy throughout this campaign. Both men were incredibly powerful, yet had flawed policies that seem to have been pushed under the rug.

Do you think the American people harken back to revisionist history because of the dire circumstances the Bush administration has put us in, or is that just human nature?

Thanks, keep up the good work!

John

Bishop, Florida   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Does Obama have anything to fear when elected President in a nation that is truly divided and hateful?

Suraj   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

I am supporting Obama Not because he is black or because of his gender: Not because he is young or because he can speak well but because he knows what is it to be poor and how to get out of it. He should be an inspiration to all of us. Any thing is possible it life if we just believe!

KA   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Why no one talks about another major issue, which is if Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic nomination, then the republicans will bury her with the negative attacks than never before as they have so much hatred towards her (and they are not alone). That is why no one on the right talks negatively about Hillary now, because they know that they will have another republican in the White House in 2009, if she is the Democratic nominee against a Conservative nominee (likely to be Mc Cain). Any comments or am I missing the point here?

RJK   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

The Obama campaign has raised over 5.4 million since the polls closed. They are on target to beat the Ron Paul record!

Gabrielle, Denver   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

I thought that you might have a cold when I was watching last night.

Ben   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Anderson, have you thought about doing a recurring segment on environmental issues? I have to believe they’re more important than what’s happening with Britney - and there has to be a way to make them just as interesting.

Angelo, New York   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Was the Heath Ledger story dropped for more unneccessary Britney Spears coverage? Honestly, I’m tired of hearing about this because the woman just keeps doing a “360″. I don’t think anyone can say that she isn’t to an extent sick mentally but come on, every thing seems so deliberate. She’s had opportunity after opportunity to sober up and get her life on track. She’s missed court hearing after court hearing, she’s been checked into rehab, etc. And then you hear the rumors about her setting up a rendezvous with the paparazzi, which are more than likely true. She’s done this all to herself. But to be fair, the vipers in her life (boyfriend Adnan, her former manager, close friends) are doing nothing but injecting more venom into this already sad and pathetic saga. California should make paparazzi activity illegal and we ALL should just leave her alone as Chris Crocker would want.

Angelo

Cheryl, Johnston, RI   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Must 360 cover Brittany?? I’m no Dr. Drew, but it seems to me part of the problem is the media covering her every move. 360 is better and above that.

Anderson Cooper   February 6th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Any questions for dr drew? I know we don’t usually report on Britney, but have you read the rolling stone piece about her.. the situation is out of control

Britney is not the news. The media makes Britney the news by shoving it down the viewers throats every 3 minutes. The best cure for Britney would be a media black out on her personal life. Stop reporting her every move and I bet she will straighten up really quickly.

Why do we have to listen to more garbage about Britney when there are so many more newsworthy events going on right now?

Natalee   February 6th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

I am totally sick of hearing about Britney but I get that its “big” news. She needs to just go away for a while and take care of herself. I know Anderson loves talking about her LOL

Christina   February 6th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Hey Anderson

It must be a hard decision as to whether or not to report on Britney Spears. What I don’t understand is, why can’t the paparazzi be held accountable? If any ordinary citizen followed someone around like that, they’d be charged with stalking. The rationale that these people are celebrities so it’s okay, doesn’t make sense to me.

Besides, they followed her around even when she wasn’t actually recording or performing anymore.

Hope your cold is getting better.

Christina, Windber, PA

Dan   February 6th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

I wonder if as many people would be behind Hillary, if not for Bill. I think that she would just be another senator, that just a minimal number of people have heard of. Clinton seems to be more of a brand name than a real candidate. Obama seems to genuinely care about people and the seemingly dire situation of the country and its politics!!!

What I found out about Heath Ledger’s death, is he died from an accidential overdose of prescription drugs so they are thinking it was an accidential death?

John Rajkumar   February 6th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Hi Anderson,
Wathching your show from Bangalore, India.
Was wondering if you’ve noticed the eerie similarity between this election and the penultimate season of the tv drama The West Wing - Non-white, ‘hopes and dreams’ candidate nominated at the democratic convention running against a moderate elderly rebublican?
Just an observation!

Thanks

Fred   February 6th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Lets just leave the celebrity news to the E! channel. I am so sick of hearing every aspect of a celebrity’s life. There are many more important things going on in the world that should be covered by the news instead of the latest Britney sighting.

Mark   February 6th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Anderson, I am a new blogger and having a great time. Great job on all the election coverage! I live in Arkansas and am amazed at the tornado devestation! Many have rallied to try to support those impacted. Always amazed at how everyone will jump in and help when needed.

kat   February 6th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Can you also have the experts talk about what will happen to the delegates that should have gone to John Edwards? In some cases, he had 8/10% - this is such a close race, won’t that count somehow?

Hi Anderson, I look forward to seeing Glenn Beck. Can you please ask him why it seems Republicans are so determined to hate each other? I used to work in a company where I was the lone Democrat. Everyone else was Republican, and they hated each other! The funny thing is they all wanted to be friends with me (they said I was nice). I’ve since left that company because the environment was so toxic.

Best,

I wholeheartedly disagree with the notion that Obama becomes more likeable over time. His pulpit style of delivering his rather empty politcal message became increasingly annoying to me.

I believe that Hillary took CA because we need a president that is going to be ready to lead not just preach.

Vinny Mathen   February 6th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

To me it sounds like, most media is favoring Sen.Obama. Why is everyone so against Sen.Clinton? She worked so hard for last 35 years for this country and I strongly believe this is her time to be the President. Obama would make a great President in the future, however, its not his time yet

Sarah Bradley   February 6th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

seriously doesnt headline new have there entertainment show to cover britney if people really want to klnow? Why on 360

DLH   February 6th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

I’m looking at the show and the Hillary bashing has started right out of the gate. Any move she makes in the campaign is perceived as an act of desparation. You guys really want her to lose don’t you? Enough already! The Massuchusetts vote proves that even with major endorsements and cash Obama is still not a shoe in for the nomination. Every time she’s been counted out by the media, she bounces back.

It remains to be seen who will be the nominee, but we don’t need the media making that choice for us.

Donata, Amarillo   February 6th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Hey..from TX. What ever happened with the campaign song? My guy Tom Petty rocked the Superbowl. Also, I know a couple of lawyers that I would have enjoyed giving a right hook…but, that is a whole different story. Our house is an AC360 house. Your show teaches my son to ask for the “raw data”. Thanks.

hey anderson , great job brother, do you sleep or what. you need a raise.

Tracy   February 6th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

McCain makes me yawn.

Jess   February 6th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

I have to agree with those who’ve already posted, Britney? That’s just sensationalism and ratings. I agree with Michael Moore who said it’s the media who is keeping her “news”. CNN should be ashamed to be a part of the story. If CNN wanted to do a celebrity piece the Heath Ledger story could help people.

Stacy   February 6th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

This hatred of McCain boggles my mind. It’s not like Bush is a true conservative either.

kc   February 6th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

I like John McCain the person, and would love to see him win but it seems like watching the republicans is like watching an exercise in futility.

Howard Mack (Virginia)   February 6th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

how soon will it be before we actually find out the total democratic delegate count. It seems as if the candidates are claiming a win before all 1,600 delegates are pledged.

Natalee   February 6th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

I must say, I feel terrible Heath Ledger died of an accidental overdose. Prescription medication is dangerous and these tragic deaths have taught us this over and over. When will people learn to be careful about the drugs they mix? Poor Heath. We lost an amazing talent.

Dale Ramirez   February 6th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

As a member of the international public, the one thing that separates the US from the rest of the world apart from its economy is its fascination with Hollywood and its culture “Britney” etc. A show of this pedigree shouldn’t mix the serious issues of politics with what Britney did last night. Who does that help and what message does it send?

dale- trinidad & tobago

Melinda   February 6th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

I’m not a Republican but, wow, all you have to do is look at McCain’s record to see how conservative he really is!

TN Dave   February 6th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Anderson, Talk about the Super Delegates. Hillary is leading because all the chips Bill is cashing in. Due, to the mass Clinton machine how can Barack Obama every be considered anything other than the insurgent candidate.

Deb, Pennsylvania   February 6th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Not sure if the Dems continue along this path they will have the support from base at the end. They need to finish this and support their candidate. I always liked McCain and I think this is the GOP’s thought process. But in someone who the Dems can beat because in the next few months the Dems will have so much negative ads — they will have forgotten the fight.

Matt, NYC   February 6th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

When will Anderson be blogging?

Emilio S.   February 6th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Anderson,

I want to know why isn’t anybody, specially the media, talking about the fact that the delegates from Florida and Michgan are not being counted? Considering the fact that Barack Obama has been running on the theme that he is taking up the fight for all of us and that he wants to change business as usual in politics, I would think that he would want every vote and delegate to be counted. His campaign did threat to sue in Nevada to make sure people could vote at work (mainly Las Vegas workers). If he was willing to stand up for their right to express themselves by voting in the primary, and having their votes count, why is he now doing a 180 and is fighting to keep the votes, and delegates from Florida and Michigan in being counted? Ca
