Today is going to be so exciting. I wish I could vote but I will be watching with extreme interesting. The rest of the world will certainly be watching.

If you can go out and VOTE!!!!!!!!!!

Debbie, Denham Springs, LA   February 5th, 2008 8:31 am ET

Super Tuesday: I know most people think it will be Hillary-but I think Obama will win. Obama vs McCain. Obama is one articulate and confident man.

Van Der Sloot: Guilty, guilty, guilty. His smug attitude makes me want to slap him.

Sex and migraines: I’ll take the 5th amendment on that one.

HAPPY MARDI GRAS!!!!! Just about everyone down here has the day off today. You gotta love Mardi Gras for so many reasons.

Cindy   February 5th, 2008 9:10 am ET

I can’t wait for the results today. It is going to be VERY interesting!! I think that John McCain will win on the Rep side and that should seal the deal for him getting to be the GOP candidate. But for Obama and Hillary it is going to be extremely close I think!! I think all the hype around Obama is just that….hype. When people actually go to vote I think they’ll vote for the more experienced. Well I hope that they do! We don’t need another 4 or 8 years of someone who has no clue of what they are doing!! And to me Obama has no clue! I have yet heard him say much of anything as to what he plans to do. He just says he is going to be the man of change but goes no further.

On the Van Der Sloot video…I have no doubt that they dumped her out to sea. I’ve always said that! I don’t see how they can use this tape as evidence though. They have all stayed very quiet about this and I don’t see that changing at all. Unless one boy speaks up and tells the truth this will never be solved or go to court.

It is sad what is going on with Britney. Finally her family is stepping in and trying to do something. Unfortunately her dad can’t take control of her medical needs! That is what she needs the most. Someone to make her stay in rehab and to get mental help also.

I hope everyone that can goes out and votes today!! I have already done my duty first thing this morning!

I am pretty excited about tonight as well. I even get off work early so that I can attend the caucus in my town. I am ready for the world to see that Obama IS ready!

As for the headache article…….I have a migrane! LOL That is very interesting!

Annie Kate   February 5th, 2008 9:23 am ET

I’m glad for Beth Twitty and all of Natalee’s family and friends that they have some confirmation now of what happened to Natalee. To live without knowing what happened to your child is something no one should have to experience. I hope some charges of some sort can be brought against the van der Sloot boy - his lack of caring about any one other than himself is sickening.

Looking forward to all the Super Tuesday coverage and the analysis of it all. I hope that no projections will be made though until after all the polls are closed in the state the projection would be for.

Sex and migranes! How funny - my sister has maintained for years that it cured her migranes. She and her husband have referred to it as “The Cure” for forever. She’ll be tickled that she was ahead of the scientists on this one!

Would somebody please tell the American people what their out of pocket costs will be for the mandated healthcare being proposed? I’m amazed at the number of people who think it’s going to be free. Most don’t realize that they will be forced by the government to PURCHASE it. At the end of the year there may, or may not be, a tax break. But, throughout the year, it will cost them (how much?) every month. Pay or get fined, or even go to jail. Do the American people really know what “mandated insurance” is?

Tim   February 5th, 2008 10:45 am ET

Whoever’s writing this blog - easy on the exclamation points, please!!!! One will suffice! (Might want to ease up on the coffee while you’re at it!!!)

jan paysour   February 5th, 2008 11:52 am ET

When Obama speaks of “affordability” in his healthcare plan, that is a relative
word. What is “affordable” to some, is probably “unaffordable ” to me. On a
$55,000 annual income my BCSC plan is “unaffordable”. It takes out over
$400 a month premium. We dont get by. For extra money I clean houses.
I am middle class. Give me a “specific” healthcare plan. I want numbers.
So do millions of other Americans. Please respond. Is Anybody Out There????

Irokansi   February 5th, 2008 12:53 pm ET

Who would imagine Clinton back in the White House for a third term after only 8 year? Such will be bad for Americans. Clinton does not represent a change at all. She stole the word “change” from Obama campaign. She is an old Washington insider who is well connected to the LOBBYISTS. Voting for Clinton is to vote for the old Washington system to continue.

Chico   February 5th, 2008 1:03 pm ET

Hillary Clinton’s healthcare proposal had failed in US houses of government before because it was unrealistic. Now again, she has proposed another one that is going to fail again because she cannot force or penalize people against their wishes. Hillary and Bill Clinton only want power and domination of democratic party.

skm   February 5th, 2008 2:14 pm ET

We need the experienced hand and smarts of Hillary. PLEASE vote for HILLARY! She is giving us the benefit of her experience. Dont fall for just plain thin air from B.O.; there is no substance in B.O’s talk, loud and presentable as it may seem. Whenever is B.O. is faced with real substantive question, he does not know how to articulate. Granted he speaks on rehearsed words quite well, but that is not enough. Ever imagine going to a CEO’s job withouto experience? If you are the only shareholder of the company, would you select CEO someone with as little experience as B.O.? I dont think so! Hillary now is the realiable party who will even handle the risky aspects of the job. She is a master at it, and we need that kind of smarts and footwork capability in the whitehouse.
So, PLEASE vote for HILLARY!!

Frank Hicks   February 5th, 2008 2:23 pm ET

This is a cool race , Obama will not be able to say he didn’t get a fair amount of coverage in case he doesn’t win. CNN really has been covering him.And if he doesn’t win, I hope he joins up with Hiilary to work for health care. He also should not give up, he will most likely win the the race the next time.

Lisa   February 5th, 2008 2:47 pm ET

Excuse me, but my taxes are funding a $40 Billion scholarship?! Senator Byrd can fund his own scholarship if he has such capital to spend that way. I took out loans (and repaid them) and worked part-time (from which pay taxes were withheld) in order to put myself through college.

We are so busy making sure every other country’s infrastructure is in good shape, and helping every one else out (including attending our colleges and universities) that we have forgotten our own backyard needs a little tending to.

I don’t mind paying taxes but I want them to help our country out. And if there is some left over, loan it to other countries. Of course we’re seen as the “good guys” to many countries - they get money from us (normally a “loan” but we tend to forgive them quite a bit). But it’s getting a little hard to preach our way of life to others when we aren’t setting a very good example right here.

The problem, though, is with us. We know what the issues are and we probably know how to solve them. We say we want the truth but when it is actually spoken we don’t want to hear it. And we keep putting the same people back in office — the same ones who created this mess and who also promise to fix it.

Does my vote count? I don’t know. Do the politicians really care? I doubt it. But I do know that if I don’t vote, I have no right to complain. If I don’t pay taxes, I have no right to complain about a lack of service. However, I do know that if I’m following all the rules, I should be rewarded not punished. Maybe one day these disenfranchised students will decide some public service is good for the soul and run for office. Maybe they can do what an entire generation has failed to do — hold our politicians accountable. Maybe they can right the drifting ship we call the United States. For the first time, I think I have faith in the next generation.

You can find this on Wikipedia “end times” …Jackson County Missouri is the place where Mormons believe Jesus is going to return, I have heard this in the past but researched it for myself. Jackson County is their Zion, So i emailed Mitt Romney about it and got no response..” Surprise”. I wanted to know if he believed this himself or he was just a part time Mormon.

Thank you Mr. Cooper, for covering all the serious news going on in the world, despite all the super-duper election drama!

CNN persistently promotes McCain and Huckabee, while barely mentioning all the votes Romney has accumulated and the states in which he has won by a VAST margin! McCain will be another war president and neglect our economy during his single term and Huckabee is a religious minister who is pro death penalty. What?!
The world will not listen to these men, and diplomacy will be null and void.
CNN knows: Romney is the only republican who has a chance in the general election, and in the long run.
Even as a possible Obama supporter I can see that!
CNN needs to stop underestimating the intelligence of its viewers.

I nominate Anderson Cooper for president!!
The spin stops in the AC zone…but don’t get me started with your anti-Romney, pro you-know-who political pundit team.

How is this a democracy? Am California registered American Independent voter who wanted to vote democratic candidate. Local poll workers would only allow me to go into Independent booth where I couldn’t vote who I wanted for. I tried to write down my choice but know most likely won’t be counted in what is a very important race to me. How can poll workers be so ignorant and not let me vote how I wanted to? Aren’t I supposed to be the one making the decision of who I want to vote for?

Vanessia   February 6th, 2008 10:32 am ET

My understanding is that Oboma got white male voters.Do you know if they normally vote Dem or Rep.I here the Rep.crossed party lines in hopes of getting Oboma to run against McCain. They think McCain can beat Oboma but not Hillary.

tom   February 6th, 2008 11:29 am ET

I just wanted to say, it’ pretty obvious CNN is backing Obama— The long free speech he had last night was more than Clinton and the Republicans got put together. Another observation, Obama gets no criticisim and no matter what Clinton says, you’ll jump in the middle of her. CNN is unfair and unbalanced.

The insertion of the Kennedys into the current Barak Obama campaign and the likening of Obama to the the young John Kennedy are very interesting as they serve to point out what can happen when a young uninitiated person takes a seat in the Oval Office. I am old enough to remember some of the disasterous mistakes of the short Kennedy administration, and the American history of the Twentieth Century bears a heavy burden as a result of his presidency.

Within the first 90 days of his administration, Kennedy allowed himself to be influenced by the CIA and Joint Chiefs to undertake an ill-fated invasion of Cuba, known as the Bay of Pigs. The invasion failed and many lives were lost, but Castro survived, and we still live with our estrangement from our near neighbor.

This enormous mistake so emboldened the Soviets that it precipated the Cuban Missiles Crisis, putting our nation in extreme danger of attack from Cuba, only ninety miles away. In a desperate effort to defuse the situation, Kennedy sold out our allies by removing our own missiles from Turkey.

Last but certainly not least, in the name of fighting communism, he precipitated our terribly mistaken and horrific involvement in Vietnam.

With his brother Robert and other members of his administration, (reportedly members of the Mafia too) he plotted to assassinate several world leaders. but in the end, his own assassination made him a martyr, erasing from our collective memory the terrible mistakes of this charismatic young man’s tenure in the Oval Office.

It is said that the value of history is the ability to learn from the mistakes of the past.
